Title: An eBay whinge. Bad seller.
Post by: thx1138 on April 19, 2005, 02:58:06 AM
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50220&item=8182857914

Did not included postage costs. Tried several times to obtain postage costs, e-mails "bounce". Pulled contact details, got a mobile number. Telephoned mobile number, "no such number exists".

I left negative feedback, 8 days after the sale ended;
"      emails bounce, phone number/contact details incorrect, no contact from seller  "

Within a few hours, his feedback becomes private.

Me thinks, he did not want to sell his game for the price he got.

I've reported him to eBay, twice, for invalid e-mail addy, and incorrect contact details. I hope this S.O.B doesn't claim me as a non paying bidder.

That really sucks, man.  It looks like you had a great deal there on that handheld, especially in the seemingling great condition it is in.  eBay used to drive me crazy, because leaving negative feedback for somebody like that often meant they'd leave the same for you in retaliation, even if you had done no wrong.  I had a similar problem happen about two years ago....  it took me over two weeks' worth of e-mails, and then phone calls and even snail mail before the guy even responded.  I had sent my money less than thirty minutes after the auction end to him via PayPal.  Luckily for him, he did end up sending the stuff after about three weeks.  I was ready to file for fraud.  He deserved a negative feedback, but I didn't give it to him because I knew he'd turn around and give it to me.  Arg.

Yeah, I felt the same, but my %age is 99.8, and it was 99.8 before Square Trade removed one recently. So, I figured I could afford a battle scar this time.

If he didnt want to sell it for that price to damn bad. Ebay has this feature call a "RESERVE". What a jack ass. Good luck.

Quite true!

Anyway, since I negged him, two others have followed suit. Before he turned private, he had a load of positives from buyer that day, so I guess he might have done the same to two other buyers?

I fully agree.  There's a way around the retaliation problem, though.  I haven't done this myself, but read it elsewhere on the net..since you can only leave feedback within 90 days after the auction ended, you can leave negative feedback a minute or a matter of seconds before that 90-day period is exceeded, and then the other eBayer can't retaliate.  Luckily I haven't had any eBay problems lately, but I'm definitely gonna make good use of this trick if I ever do.  ;)

I have yet to try it myself. I filed a reminder, for someone who is going to get negged, but that won't be for many weeks yet;

I think it's BS that ebay lets you hide your feedback.   ::)

I think, I may be wrong, but I think it came about, because of certain privacy laws in Germany and/or other European countries.
