Title: Multiplayer Recommendations (besides Halo 2)
Post by: den68 on April 15, 2005, 07:06:28 AM
I need some recommendations for good 4 player split screen XBOX games. I get together with a few friends every few weeks for some split screen action.

I'm well aware of Halo 2 so no need to recommend that one. What I'm looking for is mainly 1st person mayhem with a control scheme similar to Halo but I'd like to hear about any 4 player split screen XBOX games.

Here's a few that we've already played:

1- Halo 2
2- Halo
3- Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. -I really like this one. Nice array of weapons and maps and I dig the WWII setting.
4- Medal of Honor: Frontline. -same as above
5- 007 Nightfire. -cool multi but the control scheme is opposite of Halo so it was a bit awkward to play after playing Halo.
6- Red Dead Revolver. -only played it once, undecided. I'd like to hear some comments on this one.
7- Crimson Skies
8- Nascar Thunder 2004. - liked this one. any other cool racing games that reflect car damage? the only thing I didn't like was the replay. we had some great crashes that we wanted to see but the replay is only highlights, not the entire race.
9- Blood Wake. -boat combat. kinda lame.

a few I have that we've yet to try:

1- Metal Arms: a Glitch in the System
2- Sea Blade
3- Mech Assault. - I did try this once with one other player, not 4 though. seems like it's pretty good.

I was going to mention Kung Fu Chaos.  It's actually more like Smash Bros. than Mario Party, but I'll let you slide on this one.  ;)

Also, you can get it for $10 new at Circuit City right now.

The levels I played you did not fight each other. You could try to push each other off a platform but not fight . Seemed like a fun game.

But thanks for letting me slide.  :P

Doom 3 collectors edition has original doom as well as doom 2 which can be played offline only against your pals  ;)

I third Kung Fu Chaos.
It is great for 10 bucks.
Only thing is you will have to put in some solo time to get all of the multiplayer levels.
So don't expect maximum fun out of the box.

Not 4 player but you could do round robbin in Soul Calibur 2, Mortal Kombat Deception, Street Fighter Anniversary or any other fighter.

I'm going to EB at lunch and there's a Circuit CIty right across the parking lot. I should go look for this one.

For 10 bucks, I might check out KFC, too.

Hey Izret, about how much campaign time do you have to invest to unlock the multiplayer levels? Also, are there any cheats to open them up?

Curious to try out the following in 4-player splitscreen:

Unreal Championship 1
Ghost Recon 2
Brute Force

Don't own yet but would like to get:

Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

Any feedback on how these play out in 4-player splitscreen?

Another question:

Has anyone played DOA (Ulitmate or DOA3) in Tag Team mode? If so, are all 4 fighters in the arena at the same time or is it 1 v 1 untill the "tag" is called?

@Phoenix
Pretty much after every level you unlock something.
The more stars you are given for your "film" the more things you will unlock.

Yeah, good call on NHL Hitz.  The only rule that should stay in is goalie interferrence.  I've gotten some cheesy ass goals by knocking over the goalie first.

I've gotten goals with the goalie.  I was very proud of that.

Hey Den, here's a review of RF2. It sounds like it's got decent multiplayer value, but understated graphics.
