Title: MetalJesus' Shoutout

So what will this video do for the site's traffic I wonder?

No clue... but WIN for being the most content-focused!

Anyone care to pay $25/yr to have the site completely blow Collectorz out of the water? $25/yr for each member could make this a permanent job for me! Oh wait, that's right, we don't charge an arm and a leg for something that should be FREE.

Also worth noting, the software he uses is based off Shelfari, another Amazon site. Shelfari sucks. :'(

Really enjoyed seeing the site on the video not only as the first thing he covers, but also given almost all the props...except that we aren't attractive...ha ha. Good thing our site is like a good video game...focused on content over appearance. :)

Worth noting the RFG Android App too, since I noticed that people were clamoring for a mobile solution. ;)

I tweeted at him this morning too but don't expect a response.

The things he focused on that the others had were things we also have or are in the works.
Minus the pie chart and UPC scanner support(or do we support that finally? I don't scan UPCs).

I have no idea how he is but WOOT! My sales thread!

We have UPC scanner support - ID# field supports UPCs. I believe the mobile app supports it better though, since the main site would require a scanner rather than using a camera. Batch scanning is something Crabby asked for a while ago, but we don't properly support it (yet).

Worth noting, but we've had ~150 new user registrations in the past day, with most of them coming in the past 12 hours. Not sure how much of that is actual members vs. spam, but we're closing in on our 10,000th registration...

the "forum stats" page at the bottom of the forum says only 7183, is that what you mean or is there a higher number somewhere else?

Higher number somewhere else - we have spam accounts that we delete, but the # increments based on total registrations, not total members. Basically, counting up to Member ID#10000.

ohh alright, that makes more sense. even the 7183 is a lot of members anyway, i know it was years but it doesn't feel that long ago that it was only 4000 something.

I make this solemn vow right now: no foreign objects put in places they should not go.

Now where's my beer bong setup?

Hey, just thought I'd chime in as someone who created an account after seeing Metal Jesus' video just today, you might be right. I use Backloggery (also mentioned in the video), which is nice because you don't have to worry about matching items to a database (same with spreadsheets), but it is nice to be able to select the item from a database and have it available for other people to view and all that. I especially like the option to put an item up for sale or trade, which helped convince me to start putting my collection on here. I've tried using a couple different options and since my collection isn't huge, it's not too time consuming for me to double up, so to speak, but hopefully I can settle on one and focus just on that. Plus, an active community is a big thing for me, too, so it's nice to see an active message board.

Anyway, long story short, a little plug here and there can apparently make a pretty big difference.

Seeing as we just jumped over 4000, even the smallest plugs can be helpful.

*Make sure to LIKE the collectorcast on Facebook!*

Lets see what happens there...I was the 50th like. ha ha

That video is what got me on board. I've already started to contribute to the RF Generation Android App, put up a partial collection, and am wandering the forums looking for interesting tidbits to be involved in.

Looking forward to more.

I finally watched the video - what a great feature for rfgeneration.

One thing he didn't mention is the database here is probably 100x better than Collectorz. A lot of their default stuff has a European bent too (images, etc) so I'm constantly adding NTSC covers, for brand new stuff too.

I signed up there years ago, prior to the flat yearly subscription so was grandfathered through with the offline program on my laptop that synchs to their online site + the iPhone app (which is probably the best part). I wouldn't give them another dime nor recommend them at this point. I point people here instead.

Always appreciated. We have an Android app, but held off on the rest as we have plans for a native site instead in the near future.

MetalJesus's video is what directed me to RFGeneration. I'd been thinking I needed something to catalog what I had that I could access via my phone in stores, and while my memory has proven quite remarkable regarding my collection, I have certainly made some mistakes in buying/not buying. This was especially true once my collection grew to a certain size...and then TADA! RFGeneration comes into my life. Such a tremendous resource.

It has been almost 10 years since I started using the site and it has proved to be the only reason I have so much. Not just for tracking, but I have learned so much from the regulars on the site, it has helped me in knowing what games to look for, what to pass over, and most recently, how to go about dealing online. You have found a great home here and a great resource for game collecting.

how to go about dealing online

For a second there I read dating online. I think that would have launched RFG to all new heights.
