Title: "Unique" Genre
Post by: tactical_nuke on March 23, 2014, 01:04:50 PM
There are a ton of games under this genre that can easily fit into a more descript category. For instance  the Katamari games can all go under Action/Adventure being that their subgenres are "Action Puzzle" anyway. The WarioWare games can all go under "Compilation" with the subgenre "Mini Games". I just wanted to get an OK before I submit a flood of corrections for them.

Also, I think the staff should consider "Fitness" and "Game Builder" as genres as it would better categorize a lot of the entries under "Unique".

Consider this your "OK". A lot of time, stuff like Genre gets put in when a title is first added to the DB, and that's not always by someone who has played it, so they may just be going on a short description or trailer for a game, so it can be hard to classify. If you think a game can obviously fit into a more specific genre, go for it.

I can definitely see Fitness being a genre, it's apparently a fad that isn't going away as quickly as anyone thought.
I can only think of a few games that would fit into the Game Builder genre though, are there really enough to warrant their own genre?

Yeah after a 2nd look through there aren't that many actually. But there are a bunch of art creation games though. Thanks.

what about just a "creation" genre, or something like that? it might be a bit vague but i can think of quite a few games that could fit into that including game builders

Just took a look at the Misc. category. It really needs some work. Unique and Misc. should just be combined into one category called "To Be Sorted".

You're hearing no arguments from me, though what did you think of Izret's genre guide previously?
