I decided to soldier through and finish off Final Fantasy XIII.  I'm on chapter 13 right now, so it shouldn't be too much longer.  Although I know I'm going to go back and do all of the mission marks too.

those mission marks are the biggest time sinks in the game. they're cool and all, but a lot of the more difficult ones would take so much grinding to get done. i considered going for platinum on that game and quickly changed my mind Lol

Playing some old school Namco arcade games on Namco Museum Vol. 1.

Played through the Knight Cup on F-Zero on my Wii-U today.  I like that I can re-map the controls, but I want to put my shoulder drift buttons on ZL and ZR, not L and R.  Problem is when ZR is pushed it brings up the options menu.  I will try again tonight. Having lots of fun with the game though.

Started a new Shogun 2 campaign and royally fucked it up almost instantly. Going to have to play smarter, I've gotten far too used to playing Napoleon as the British and controlling the seas and not really worrying about anything else until I have enough trade going to build massive armies without a worry. I either need to play it cool or do something similar in hiding myself away.

I just beat Final Fantasy XIII.  For all of my complaints about the game I will say this:  The visuals are amazing and I really liked the ending.  It makes me curious about Final Fantasy XIII-2, and how the inhabitants of Cocoon would deal with the new situation they're in.  The only problem is that in the first game I never really got a feel for Cocoon or what the people that lived there were like other than "PULSE BAD!!  L'CIE BAD!!  RUN!!".  It doesn't really give me a lot of confidence that the writers will do much with it.

Played through Dead Space 2: Severed in prep of Dead Space 3 showing up in a few days. The credits were almost as long as the DLC.

Koozac - need 1.5 mil more.

Texas Holdem - all i have left is the endless hours of tournaments. Back to pretending i don't own this game now...

YuGiOh 5Ds - Beat it. YAAAAAAAYYYY

Gundamn Operation Troy - like 300 more matches to play...

N+ - knocked out all but 1 achievement. The last one is stupid hard. I only need to clear 1 more set of 5 levels in co-op but i have like 8 hours in it already so not counting on it happening any time soon.

Brain Challenge - working on daily challanges. Need 85 more online wins.

Bloody Good Time - Need 1800 more stars

Monsters Love Candy - popped one achievement. Game seems pretty cool but i probably won't get back to it for ages because it is a Win8 PC game.

Halo 4 - will probably wrap up campaign tonight.

Dmc: Devil May Cry

Just completed mission 2.

Gotta jump back on this now that the Bloody Palace DLC is out. Vergil's Downfall is also dropping on Tuesday/Wednesday, but wait until you finish the game to play that, as it picks up from where the main story ends.

Recently I've been rolling through Metal Gear Rising. Again, a case of a good game that is criminally short. Thank god there's lot of stuff to unlock and collectibles to find, or else I'd be kicking myself for paying full price for it.

I don't know, i hardly download any DLC cause i refuse to pay for something that should be inside the game, but i will think about it, i'm really enjoying DmC.

Earthworm Jim HD (WP7) - I finished the game and popped the appropriate achievements, then I popped an achievement for beating the game without dying even though I died a few times.....talk about a buggy game.

Nothing lately. Think I'll pop in Xenoblade Chronicles again this afternoon and try to pick up where I left off.

Just finished Dmc: Devil May Cry. Short but sweet, ends at the right time before it gets repetitive.

I've tried to enjoy playing GTAIV and its expansions, but no matter what I do something happens to prevent it.

GTAIV: Played and beat, but the crappy driving and annoying phonecalls will keep me from ever going back.

Lost and Damned: Lost my save about a year ago, and it was only a couple of missions from the end.  Shame really, since the bikes in this game drive so sweet, it went a long way towards me forgetting what Rockstar did to ruin the driving in GTA.

Ballad of Gay Tony - Despite the great intro the "driving on buttered wheels" sections of the game really bring me out of it.  Don't get me wrong, I have so qualms with the story presented in GTAIV (as it were), but rather the mechanics, which is the exact opposite of where I would rather be with these games.  I think I'm done trying for the next six or so months.

So:  Still playing Far Cry 2, and when my boy is hogging the computer to play his train simulations I attempting Obscure: Aftermath on the PSP.  For some reason this game reminds me of Deadly Premonition but without the bang-up story.  I'll give it another hour or so, then move on if necessary.

Bloody Palace is free to download, and it gives you a 100+ wave enemy challenge to beat. Vergil I think will be $10 to download, but I get it for free for pre-ordering 8)

Started playing through the Sly Collection for PS3, hoping to get all 3 of those done before MLB 13 The Show on March 5th.

going through Metal Gear Rising now, and really enjoying it. Some Aliens: CM MP and Halo 4 MP on the side with friends online.

Been playing a bunch of Battlefront II on the LAN with the roommates. Also a bit of Left 4 Dead 2 but can't get it to run on one of the laptops.

Since I finally got my free PC set up, I've been playing the web version of Wordament to try and get another completion in the bag for this year. :)

I just got done playing World of Warcraft.  My guild is trying to kill the last heroic level boss of this content tier and they want to raid every night until we kill it.  No, oh God no don't let this happen.  I'm so spent on WoW right now, raiding every night might kill the game for me.  If we don't kill the boss by Thursday I will not be happy.

Started up New Super Mario Bros U last night. Having a blast with it!

Just started my Warcraft raid for tonight and a bunch of key members couldn't come on, so we're just going to do practice pulls.  Practice pulls, for those of you not in the know, basically means "You ain't killing shit and we're just going to die repeatedly".  The next 3 hours are going to be balls.

things like this are why i could never get into WoW. i enjoyed it as a game, but hated the lengths that were required to go to get to any of the real big fights and more interesting parts of the game. that and subscription fees for a single game are stupid.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters - think i am halfway through it. Really not as bad as i was expecting. :D

Halo 4 - been playing everything over and over for myself and to help others. It never ends :'(

Starcraft Brood War - finished mission 4 of zerg campaign, almost done! i should be finished in time for HotS
Battlefield 3 (PC) - MVP for the first 3 rounds in a 40+ person server, i was really on my game tonight :D

also bought Dear Esther on steam a few minutes ago with the OST. it was on sale at 75% off, i haven't seen much about it beyond a trailer but it looks really good.

edit: just finished playing through Dear Esther already, it's really short (45 minutes to an hour). i really enjoyed it, it's one of those games that's definitely more of an experience than a traditional game. the story and music are amazing, really emotional. visually it's stunning, which is impressive for an old engine like source. the gameplay is simple, essentially the only interaction is exploration, you can only walk and look around. the story unfolds as you explore the island you're on. i'd definitely recommend this to people who like these sort of games, but it's not for everyone.

Earthworm Jim HD (WP7) - I have died over 70 times so far on Buttville and still haven't made it to the boss yet  :-\

EDIT: Ok....again, popped the achievement for beating the game on Original difficulty, without actually beating the boss...what a glitchy game! Is this a know problem?

I really should get back to Battlefield 3 on console some time. It's hilarious how 2 people can dictate how a full 32-person team behaves. Vehicle team FTW. It's probably gotten more competitive now, but I used to take the Bird with a backup Engineer and stomp entire teams into the ground. The only time I would die would be if a rocket went through the canopy, in which case my backup mechanic would attempt to switch and float it low enough until I could respawn. Think my record was 100+ kills on a Capture match.

Finally started playing Full Throttle for the PC last night.  I've been doing a lot of reorganizing and waiting for a huge media shelf to arrive, but it's time to delve into the game that a few members seemed very excited to see on the boards. 

it's too bad you don't have it for PC otherwise we could play together sometime. it's also much better on pc, like for example i've heard consoles only have 1 jet per team (don't know first hand if this is true), whereas pc has 2. and the possible 64 man servers make it a lot more interesting than console.

Planning a replay of Metroid Prime soon. Hopefully I can figure out why people love this series so much this time...

what's not to love? it's a semi open world first person platformer that actually works well, with awesome weapons and a decent story if you read all the chozo lore and pirate logs. also dat music.

It's alright but aside the humorous pirate log or two there's just nothing all that memorable for me. I can't look back on a specific moment in that game and say "Aw Yeah! That was awesome!." The platforming was decent but that and the action all seemed a bit too slow IMO. Metroid might not be know for fast action but if I had to backtrack in Fusion, Zero Mission, or Super Metroid I could do it decently quickly.

The first time I played it though I used a guide. This time I'm going to go into it with just me and try and limit any other distractions to see if I can really get lost in the game.

Nope, I've seen 2 jets and a Cobra on one of the original maps.

oh ok well that's good. what about the player limit though, consoles usually have much smaller servers.

Played Ghouls N Ghosts for the genesis tonight for like 5 hours and beat it... on practice mode. The game was still plenty of a challenge aside from the last boss, which I managed to run in, jump in his face and fire for a few seconds before he went down all without getting hit. I may try it on professional mode soon but only if there's a special ending added or something like that.

3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) - Still making my way to the Desert Temple.

Almost ready to give this one a whirl for the 3rd time. One of my favorite games.

3 on 3 NHL Arcade (PSN) - Finally time to wrap up the rest of the Trophies.

Trying to get through World 5 on Kirby Block Ball, a Kirbified version of Breakout. Three of the four outer walls are deadly, and I've had little success maneuvering the paddles to keep the little fruity guy alive. Thank God the save/continue is still working.

how is that even playable, a lot of shots are barely possible without wall rebounds in breakout

Getting to know my PS2 again with the help of FFXII.  Surprised the darn thing actually works, considering the age and the time it's spent train-dodging my son over the years.  And to think I was going to look into a PS2 Slim.  Guffaw.

Each deadly wall has its own paddle to rebound Kirby off of. The top and bottom paddles are controlled by the left/right parts of the d-pad, and the left and right  paddle by the up/down parts.

Also, there are power-ups where, if you activate it at the right time, Kirby will break through most of the otherwise unbreakable blocks in his way. And he keeps the power-up until he's killed, or he goes on to the next level.

oh that's good, still sounds challenging though.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (360) - I forgot how funny this game is.

Halo 4 -  all i have to do is wrap up my solo legendary play and the game will be 1500/1500

King Cashing 2 (iOS) - King Cashing was one of my favorite mobile games, and was happy to find the sequel in the store yesterday. Sadly, it's REALLY short - only 3 chapters available right now, which I've already beaten. Not sure how they managed to charge $3 for this out of the chute. Great game, poor value.

Soul Calibur 5.  I finally picked it up.  Anyone wanna fight, pm me.

Started today Metal Gear Rising, just beat Mistral. Good game so far, but i definitely don't like Raiden, he tries so hard to be cool, but a hero that walks on high heels and looks like a cross dresser don't have any credibility with me.

I will try to finish Metal Gear Rising this week, this month is full of cool games coming, i can't wait for the next Castlevania, Tomb Raider, God of War installments.

I've gotten to the point where I am messing around modding Skyrim more than actually playing it. If the Elder Scrolls cycle is true to its course this means I should be free from it in a couple weeks.

Super Mario World SNES

:laugh: I feel the same way.  At the end now, and while I have enjoyed it, it is because I have accepted it as a Platinum game with a Metal Gear background.  Fun, but flawed in completely different ways than classic MGS. 

Gotta finish it up for Castlevania and Tomb Raider this Tuesday, but that may be a problem now that I also started Etrian Odyssey IV on the side...  As if I didn't know better from playing the others in the series what a time sink that rascal will be.   :P

Going out at lunch to get my PSP collecting on.  I started to write a blog entry about PSP collecting, but it just keeps looking dumber and dumber the more I add/delete.  That ever happen to anyone else?  Man, that frustrates me.

I'm playing III right now and I know how you feel. I've said "alright just one more level" more times than I can count by now.

Ended up throwing in ODST helped him finish that i nabbed a couple new achievements for myself since i haven't really played any of the game yet.

Then i moved into Frogger Hyper Arcade and got 2/3rds of my remaining achievements. 15ish challanges left and i'll be done with that one. Some of them look like they could be pretty irritating.

3D Pixel Racing (WW) - Man the premise for this game is awesome! Minecraft meets Mario Kart, but the game itself kinda sucks :P

Started Jojo's Bizzare Adventure on XBLA. Only have one achievement left. Need to get a perfect against N'Dool.

I had never played the game before and heard of the DC release but didn't know it was a fighting game until somewhat recently.

It is kind of unique and interesting.

Hopefully i can finish it and then get back to wrapping up Frogger Hyper Arcade.

picked up Tomb Raider and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 today, hopefully I can start playing those soon!

Tomb Raider is pretty good so far! Liking the exploration and combat systems, I might play some multiplayer after I'm done with birthday dinner and cake tonight. Last night I switched things up a bit and played Halo 4 multiplayer.

it looks good but i have to ask, are there any actual tombs or archeological aspects to it? they're kind of essential to the series from my understanding, she's supposed to be like a female indiana jones. the trailers to me looked more like something out of far cry 3...not a bad thing, just not tomb raider as i know it.

There are "tombs" in it, they kind of work like Assassin's Creed where they are hidden in the campaign and you have to seek them out. The one that I played was mainly puzzle solving to make a platform going up to a treasure chest.

Just beat Metal Gear Rising, had a good time, very enjoyable gameplay, but no matter what Konami tries to do, Raiden will never be cool. He may have badass attitude and somewhat mimic the way Snake talks, but he SUCKS!

Playing Bit.Trip Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien.  Lots of fun so far, but the difficulty hasn't been ramped up yet in the first world.

3D Solitaire (eShop) - This was surprisingly fun! I should expect no less from Zen Studios though.

Played some more Monsters Love Candy (free with microtransactions) i like the way the matching system works. But you are almost forced to spend money if you want to finish anything.

Finished all of the Gunstringer Dead Man Running endless mode achievements. Tomorrow i should be able to wrap up campaign. This one was not only not free(I think it was 2 or 3$s) but it is another game that needs you to purchase in game currency to complete.

Trying to play through Obscure: Aftermath for the PSP.  It's not a bad game, as it fits nicely into the classic definition of survival horror without resorting to tank controls to envoke nostalgia (instant fail, in my opinion).  However, for some reason I am struggling to get through it, and I can't point to the reason why.

Played a bunch of Skyrim last night. Also some Serious Sam with roomies on the LAN, pretty fun if a bit mindless. Setting up Battlefield 1942 for us to try next.

Finished the campaign for Gunstringer: Dead Man Running.
If the in game store or accept challenges feature ever starts working again i will be able to finish it.

Also, I don't normally complain about the brevity of the game, but in this case the game itself really felt like the original story design of half before MSG4 and half after was just cut into only working on the back half to finish it, and as a result the game (while polished) feels tonally and mechanically cut short.  Fun to go through, but the story development (or lack thereof) points to its troubled development.

Another Tomb Raider recommendation, I have been very pleasantly surprised with the short amount of time I've given it. 

Also, Etrian Odyssey IV is marvelous and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate: Jet: Revengeance: Archology of Added Names is... not as bad as I feared.  IMHO weaker thus far than any previous Castlevania portable trilogy game, yet it does pair well with the also better than expected LoS on 360/PS3.  In fact, it does a great job in music and atmosphere.  Interested in how it turns out by the end.

As a Castlevania fan i would buy Mirror of Fate regardless of its badness, but it's good to hear it is ''playable'', but unfortunately as i feared, not good as previous DS games, and as i read, lacks the soul of Castlevania (again). I'm ok with the fact that Mercury Steam is taking inspiration on God of War, we always said that this type of gameplay would be a good fit to Castlevania, but i really don't get why can't they use familiar Castlevania elements on it? I really miss the killer soundtrack, the atmosphere, familiar characters, enemies...
Taking Symphony of the Night for example, when it came in 1997, it represented a new take on Castlevania, it moved from a linear action game to a open world action/adventure game. It played somewhat different than before, but we never put in doubt it's authenticity as a Castlevania game, it's possible to be different, but at the same time familiar, and that's why i don't like the direction that Mercury Steam is taking, it's too radical, almost everything fans used to know and love about was eradicated. Castlevania lost it's identity, nowadays it's just another God of War clone.

I know I'm playing catch-up on the newer games, but I finished Splatterhouse for the 360.  I loved the original, which reminds me that I really need to get another TurboGrafx 16.  This one definitely did what it could for the M Rating, as stated by the Mask during the game.  Everything from the storyline and gameplay to the soundtrack with Lamb of God and Five Finger Death Punch was awesome.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (360) - I am just getting a few last remaining achievements(some are impossible to get). I don't really think I want to go for Rayman Loves Movies....

Glad to hear someone else likes it!  It seems to get a lot of hate, and I can't see why.  I thought the game was awesome.

played a very long mission in starcraft brood war...just to lose near the end. i had saved partway through, but i'm not sure if the point i saved will be beyond the point of failure. i ran out of resources before i could finish them off...i'm really bad XD. hopefully i can finish today.

My seven year old son discovered Tapper, Q-bert, and Pac Man because of Wreck-It Ralph, and we played those games together for the first time today.  Thank you, Disney!  Now I just need to get my MAME cabinet working again...

I played World of Warcraft for a month.

I'm somewhat glad to have actually played such a milestone game. The game has a number of strong points, but some things are really daft and tedious. And the whole thing feels mostly pointless, too. The first MMO you play is always the best. I just couldn't get totally sucked into it, which really is essential to enjoy games like this.

I might write a review on it. (Based on my 1-month experience obviously)

Just watched the movie myself, I haven't seen a Disney movie in a very long time but this one was pretty good.

Started today Castlevania for 3DS. Just passed the water leveling puzzle after the first boss.

So far, unfortunately i don't fell excited, maybe has a little to do with the boring and depressing atmosphere caused by that hideous and generic  musical score, it's really getting on my nerves. Please Konami, call back Michiru! This guy, Oscar Araujo, don't have a clue about what a Castlevania should sound.

This game plays like a 2D version of Lords of Shadow or God of War. Lots of button mashing, quick time event and climbing walls. It's not bad, but i'm getting tired of this type of game, i'd rather play an old fashion Castlevania or even the Metroidvania style.

Mercury Steam just need to take their hands off the Castlevania franchise (and fire this guy that do the music score).

About Mirror of Fate, i was wondering if the box really comes without the manual or i had bad luck?

Just opened mine, no manual here either.

By the way, just started act II ,as Alucard, in Castlevania Mirror of Fate.  Not bad, i'm even enjoying it, but not quite as good as the DS and GBA games. Hope 3DS gets another Castlevania, but this time by IGA or other studio, except Mercury Steam, i really don't like the way they think Castlevania is.

Mirror of Fate has a scene with two ladies half naked with great boobs, caressing each other and calling Simon Belmont to join them, where did i see that before? God of War anyone...?

Act 3, Trevor, just beat the first boss (the one with the giant axe).

Well, looking carefully, this game is somewhat a Metroidvania, in order to get access to a specific area, you need a special item ,just like the DS games, and we can do backtracking to retrieve special chests to increase life and magic bar, and item quantity, in areas that were once unreachable. The major problem is, that the areas don't feel well connected, there are too few shortcuts and even if there's some warp points, travel from a late area to a early one isn't easy, that is something that discourages exploring the castle, and to tell the truth, the levels are not interesting enough to justify such hard working.

Just beat Castlevania Mirror of Fate.

Not bad, i would say that i enjoyed it, but i recommend it only for Castlevania fans, even if the game doesn't make a great effort to please the fans.

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures (XBLA) - I can't believe people still play online! I had my ass handed to me, but it was still fun :P

finished another 3 missions in Starcraft Brood War, 2 main and 1 bonus. the final mission is all that's left, but it's a 3 vs 1 and looks like it'll be a long one so i'm done for tonight. i really like the game but i'll be glad when it's over. i haven't been completely into it, i mean i like it a lot but i get bored with it pretty fast. i've been working on finishing the base game and brood war for the past year and a half or 2 years roughly, with big gaps in between every few missions. i did enjoy Starcraft II Wings of Liberty though, so i'm looking forward to playing Heart of the Swarm. i just want to be up to date on the series before i jump into that one.

Kinect Sports really are not bad. You should be able to get the 2 game bundle with most/all of the DLC for a decent price too.

finished 2 great games today, Starcraft: Brood War and The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past. for once i have nothing i'm currently playing to beat...but that's not going to last more than a couple days, if that. i already have plans for another 3 or 4 games i'll be playing very soon.

Been playing a fair bit of Skyrim. Finished the Mage Guild's questline (lame) and started on The Dark Brotherhood, which thus far is sounding epic but has not been mission wise..

Finally started Radiant Historia today. Loving it so far.

Need For Speed: Undercover (WP7) - I am just a few races away from finishing up the game.

I've officially cleaned my hands of Final Fantasy XIII.  I was never overly impressed with it, but I liked it enough to play it all the way through.  So, because I almost always do everything possible in every Final Fantasy game I've ever played, I started the long tedious grind to max my characters and do all of the end game quests. 

So last night at around midnight it dawned on me that I hadn't had a single moment of fun since I started doing this and just said screw it, I'm done.  I have way too many games that are sitting in my "Want to play now" pile to do everything in FFXIII out of some feeling of obligation.

And let me tell you, it feels great.

I finished Ninja Gaiden 3 last night.  I haven't put too much time into Sigma 1/2, but they were much more fun than 3 was.

I had that same experience with FF 8

I'm about to start playing World of Warcraft.  I'll be streaming my raid tonight, so if you want to see one of those fabled guild leaders that lose their shit when something goes wrong, check it out.

Trying to platinum Angry Birds Trilogy, and that means 3 stars on every level, and 100% feather on every level. Holy crap time consuming. Also have the DLC boards to play through as well.

The DLCs expand the scope of the original achievements so i would assume they do the same to the original trophies.

Despite all my grinding and buying new equipment some of these "mini boss- like" FOE monsters are still trampling over me. It's very discouraging and makes me feel like I've just been spinning my wheels for the last few game hours. I might have to drop this game for now...

I started a game on EOIV recently, which was my first experience with the series. There was definitely a learning curve, and the difficulty was immediately apparent. Loved that about it, just wish it was a more traditional RPG instead of a crawler.

I finished Spec Ops: The Line yesterday.  I really enjoyed the story, and had fun with the campaign.  The cover system could get wonky at times and led me to a couple of deaths, but I eventually got used to it.

I need to play that. Shined as one of the few military shooters Yahtzee actually liked.

Sonic The Hedgehog (XBLA) - After more deaths then I care to admit, I beat Dr. Eggman, and now I have moved onto the Marble Zone.

My son and I are playing Skylanders like crazy! I wish there was a Toys R Us near me so I could buy some of the $4.99 figures that are on sale.

did a bunch of capture the flag rounds in Battlefield 3 Endgame multiplayer. never seen a scout chopper dominate so much, that was the best squad work i've experienced. won all but 2 of the 8 or so rounds i played.

Sonic The Hedgehog (XBLA) - Even though I am struggling with certain stages, I must say that Dr. Eggman is very easy to figure out the pattern for :P

Started Tomb Raider (PS3) today. Poor Lara suffers a lot in this game: she's knocked on the head, punched in the face, hit by bows, gets almost strangulated...just in the first few hours.

Hotline Miami and kerbal space program

I just played Akai Katana for about an hour.  I don't know about that game.  I kind of had fun playing it, but it seems kind of mindless.  Just bullets and then it's over.

I'm not fond of the ultra violence in Hotline Miami, but that arcade-style gameplay looks so tight and fast-paced.  I'm tempted....

I just 100%ed The Binding of Isaac.  It's one of the grossest, most offensive games I've ever played, but ahm, I like playing roguelike-inspired games.  Very happy to have completed this one - it was crazy difficult. *phew*

Sonic The Hedgehog (XBLA) - Made it to Scrap Brain Zone, I must be getting close to the end. And this will be the first Sonic game I have ever beaten.

I found Hotline Miami to be almost like an action puzzle game more than an arcade shooter, you can't just charge in smash-tv style as you can only take 1 hit, so you have  to plan out how your going to attack a room, still it was a bucket load of fun.

I started playing Silent Hill:  Downpour last night.  I'm 14% of the way into the game and so far it's been really good.  My wife went out last night so I played it by myself in a dark house with my sound system up loud.  By the time I was done, the game had creeped me out to much to walk through my house without turning on every light.

I do have a couple of issues with it so far.  I don't like that your weapons degrade and can break.  I've never been a big fan of that in any game.  Also, and this might just be an issue with my 360 or my copy of the game, there are some serious performance issues with the game.  I've noticed some pretty bad slow down in a couple of areas and in a few cases the game stutters, which is inexcusable.  I was running away from three enemies in an open area and the game started stuttering.  All three caught up to me and turned me into chunky salsa.  I'm going to hope it was because I was near a spot where the game automatically saves and that this isn't going to be an issue going forward.

Still, even with those issues it's shaping up to be one of my favorite in the series.  I haven't even gotten to Silent Hill proper yet (which you do go to in this game) and I already love the atmosphere.

Gears of War (360) - I have a sickness that only Gears can cure, I am making my way through Act 1 right now.

I see this game every time I go to pick up a few PSP games, and I've always wondered.  I may have to take the plunge on this one (sorry The 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy Tactics).

I'm really starting to sink into FFXII.  I might even be able to play this for the required 35-40 hours.

Radiant Historia. 25 hours in, still loving it. Seeing that it's going to take a pretty massive time commitment to finish though. With Fire Emblem: Awakening (finally) coming in the mail tomorrow, we'll see how long I can stay focused on it.

Yeah it's a very new sort of game. Worth supporting the devs for sure.

My wife got me Rock of the Dead for Valentines day last year and I just finally got around to playing it and so far it's a blast.  Think Typing of the Dead with a guitar controller.  I really regret waiting so long to play it.

Couldn't resist and started Fire Emblem: Awakening. Fucking love it, as expected. Nothing I like more than a good TRPG.

Have you played the others in the series.  I think it may be my favorite.

I rented Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs from GameFly to see how quickly I could platinum the game.  5 hours 18 minutes, apparently.

Finally scored 3 stars on every level of the non-DLC part oF angry birds for a nice gold trophy for the case. Now to move on to the eagle score for every level. Then mop up the remaining levels of the DLC stuff.

+1 on Tomb Raider recommendation, really thrilled with how that turned out.  Well worth finishing.

Started Bioshock Infinite, and... wow.  So far living up to the hype, though I am a fanboy of the series.

About 3/4 through Etrian Odyssey IV, and it is the best in the series thus far.  And I really like the series.

Also playing Gears of War: Judgment on the OverRun mode.  Interesting twists to the GoW formula, and just different enough that it feels fresh.  Enjoying.

Also Also some Mass Effect 3 MP, and marveling at how much different and better of an overall experience it has become.  Makes the pre-updated MP feel like a demo version, its so much more expansive now. 

You will be happy to hear that Atlus is remastering the first Etrian Odyssey for 3DS!

^yeah, I'm tentatively excited; it's going to be quite different, with a ... character driven storyline? Gameplay is different too. If it's localized, I'll definitely give it a shot.

Monopoly (WP7) - Heading to the inlaws this weekend, will play this when I have some spare time.

Started Bioshock: Infinite and kind of find it to be meh. Just can't get into the cookie cutter gameplay. It feels too linear, granted I'm not far along but I dunno.

Heard the same thing.  This was also the reason I initially ignored Metro 2033, but I'm glad that I came back to it (in time).

Just hit had a big plot change in Farcry 2.  Man, am I really enjoying this game.

Alien Swarm (PC) and Capcom Fighting Jam (Xbox) - found some decent players on alien swarm so a few good games - fighting jam is a disaster, unresponsive controls, horrible cheap AI that just spams special attacks, one for the sales pile.

Delved deeper into Bioshock: Infinite and it does get better. Still very linear, but the gameplay picks up, the story starts drawing you in, and the little companion girl is adorable. Lots of little details to the game, like the girls dress and hair getting dirty/disheveled as the adventure goes on.

2006 FIFA World Cup (360) - I kept on trying to do the achievement glitch, but it wasn't working. I will have to try again tomorrow, off to bed now.

Gears of War: Judgment - started co-op campaign last night.

Wolfenstein - still working towards that level 50. I think we ended in the low 40s yesterday. Should take about 3 more hours for me and co-op buddy to both hit 50.

Grabbed season 2 of Kinect Sesame Street TV for R on friday and we played through through that. Episodes seem shorter than season 1. He still loved it though. Pretty pricey IMO but he likes it quite a bit so i am actually hoping for a season 3.

Midway Arcade Origins - Still need to finish the Joust 2 and Smash TV achievements :-/ They are tough.

Stranglehold - Getting ready to fire this up and knock out another couple online achievements hopefully.

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 (PSN) - I am just messing around with certain courses.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

I love the game so far.  It is definitely set up to be a portable game because the missions that can be completed within 10-30 minutes (so far), and after completion you are brought back to Professor's E. Gadd's place.  It can get annoying having to re-trek through the mansion, but I love everything else about the game, so I can overlook it.

Bejeweled Live (Win8) - Been trying to get 750k in the mining game type.

Monsters Love Candy (Win8) - Need 4 monsters in the first world, 1 in the second a bunch in all the rest. Finally unlocked the final set of stages.

Wolfenstein - Finished the online!!!!

Stranglehold - Last thing i have to do online is 307 kills. I figure i should be in the 200-250 range. Should only take me about 30 mins to get the final kills.

Gears of War Judgment - Finished the campaign and Aftermath. Heading back into the online. Right now i am rank 43/50. 2 more reups after that.... Hopefully they don't take TOO long.

WWE '13 (PS3) - Man the Attitude era reeks of so much awesomeness!

So so so much Fire Emblem: Awakening. Frustrating as always, as I insist on reseting every time a character does, but still loving it.

More Bioshock. Definitely pulls you in, becoming one of them "games as art" type deals.

Yeah.  All you need to do is beat the game once on hard.  It took me maybe 4-5 hours to do so.


I was worried about running into them because I read that many people had problems, but I didn't run into much.  The game froze on me twice, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be (The glitching, that is).  The game is incredibly boring, generic, unpolished, and definitely only worth a rental if you'd like a relatively easy platinum/achievements.

Band Hero (360) - Had some friends over tonight, so we decided to play for fun. I am so damn rusty at this. It will take me quite awhile before I play on Medium again....

3D Solitaire (eShop/3DS) - I am now playing a nice relaxing game to go with my hangover...:P

I guess it is pretty fitting that i love this game and think it is the best of the series thus far (haven't spent much time in 3 to be fair) since most Gears fans seem to hate it.

Even when i play and enjoy a AAA title it is still something people hate.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, 3rd mission at the 2nd mansion. I'm enjoying every single minute, easily the best 2013 release along Tomb Raider, it's fun, creative, charming (it has some kind of Scooby-Doo atmosphere) and it's ideal for short playing sections, a perfect fit for a portable platform, but it doesn't mean it's a flat experience, there's plenty to do if you want to.

The only downside so far it's the fact the Dr. E.Gadd interrupts too much to give some advise and explanations.

I'm still in Bioshock afterglow and never want to play anything again.

i love games that make you feel that way after playing. i really need to play the bioshock series.

I'm that way with Silent Hill Downpour right now.  If it wasn't for the weapons breaking every other God damned enemy, that game would be perfect.  To me at least.  I'm weird.

WWE '13 (PS3) - I am about to start D-X's path through the Attitude era.

Tried to get back into Patapon... it's really discouraging when a enemy can just wipe out a unit of yours and there;s not much you can do about it...

Had to break from Angry Birds for a bit, although I am literally 2 eagle score levels from Platinum, but they are causing headaches, so I needed to take some frustration out and started Dungeon Siege III, a so-so hack-n-slash that is providing some entertainment but I doubt I will stick in the time to Platinum.

Super Mario World SNES and Double Dragon II XBLA.  Played the demo of DD II and it's horrendous.

Just finished the 5th Dungeon in Link's Awakening.  A bit harder but not bad, and I got the hookshot!  :)

Sonic the Fighters (XBLA) - This is kinda different...

Gears 3 nabbed another Onyx played through a bit more campaign knocked out the final online specific achievement.

Started and finished Doritos Crash Course Go on Win8 it was a port of the XBLA Crash Course. I enjoyed it as much as i did the first time through. Looking forward to the second one.

Tried to start Arkham city (PC) and got a triple helping of DRM - bought the game in Steam, then had to activate the game with a serial number then to be able to save I need to login into games for windows live WTF?!?! - I go though less pissing around to login into my bank account. Can't remember my GWFL login got bored, played Street Fighter 3 (DC) instead

Started Ni No Kuni today. Took forever to get into it, the pace of the game is slower than I usually like, and the view while you're on the "world map" is frustrating. That said, I do enjoy what I've played so far.

Thanks for the heads-up on that one.  Now I know not to bother with that game on Steam.

Damnation - Finished co-op and the misc achievements. Have i mentioned yet that this game is terrible? Need to do an insane play through now and be done with it.

Rockstar Table Tennis - If i can get the ace serves to work i might be able to finish this. Fewer than 250 people on TA have finished it though so i don't have much hope.

Fairytale Fights - Started the casual co-op run. This game needs to be beat once on each difficulty in co-op and single player. It is OK but i'm not looking forward to 6 playthrus.

Gears of War 3 - still turboing towards my Onyx Last man out and Onyx Warzone medals. I think i need 1k more matches.

NFS: Hot Pursuit - still no progress on the phone version.

Injustice: Played through about half of the story. So far a decent fighting game. - Edit - Finished Injustice last night. Story mode was decent and I recommend for Comic Book fans or those looking for a new fighting game.

Dead Island: I keep wanting to like this game but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Figure it's time to start eating away at my small backlog of unbeaten PS3 games instead of adding to it (or before PSN+ can add any more free games to the pile), so I've returned to Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

Edit: Hyperdimension Neptunia it is, now that I have a clearer idea of how to make it seem like I'm actually making progress.

Just to break up the monotony I bought into the latest Indie Royale (http://www.indieroyale.com/) and spent two hours playing Battlepaths (http://key17.com/games/battlepaths/), which puts me about 85% through the game.  A very fun Rogue-like.

Good lord Hyperdimension Neptunia is one cockblocker of a game. Want to continue the story? Sorry, you need more powerful weapons. Want more powerful weapons? Sorry, you need to do side quests that require the same weapons. Want to grind? Good look, buddy, the dungeons aren't as efficient at that as you'd expect, unless you're one-shotting everything which you can only do after you've some some grinding. I'm only pushing through it at the rate I am because I was able to slip into a high level dungeon, grab Neptune's best weapon and get out before I was slaughtered.

After going Platinum on Dungeon Siege 3, I have moved on to LEGO Indiana Jones 2. So far t is fun. I just hope i don't get any glitchy trophies that are fairly present in this game I have heard.

Shouldn't be a problem, really. All of the glitchy trophies are still obtainable if they glitch on you, it's just a minor time investment.

Catherine O'Hara was my fav. 

She's rather sexy as well. I can't believe what a good job they did fleshing out so many characters by using only a few speaking lines each and some awesome looking character models.

I had my first death last night. It was Victor so no big loss. If it was one of my ladies I would have reloaded the game.

Whelp, beat Hyperdimension Neptunia. I should move on to another game in need of being beaten, but I'm compelled to complete this now. Not a lot of complicated things need to be done to finish it off, just some slightly time consuming grinding.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition - Decided to start a new character. It's been a long time since I last played and I screwed up getting the best build for a mage earlier on my initial character. So far, so good.

finished Tron Evolution. not as bad as i expected, it was generally pretty cool and though i don't remember the movies too well i'm pretty sure it was before Legacy, and was the lead up into that story. i really hated the light cycle parts though, and Move was impossible, i disabled that after the first light cycle sequence.

Toy Soldiers: Boot Camp (WP7) - Out of town today, gonna work on this when I get a chance.

I finally picked up a PSP today.  I'm planning on importing the Project Diva games.  Does anyone have experience with these?  Do the variants matter, or can I just cheap out with "The Best" versions of the three titles?

FINALLY!

I have beaten Far Cry 2.  More than 30 hours spent just on the main story, and only a smidgen on weapon upgrades and medicine runs, and I am done with this game.  Whew!  My only regret?  Not getting the USAS-12 shotgun until the end.  That is a fun weapon.  Messy, but fun.

Now what?  I need something shorter.  I was thinking about Oblivion, because I heard that you can get through the main storyline in less than ten hours.  Either that or the first Gears of War.

Injustice is awesome thus far. I'm only like 5 minutes in though. Also thought the tutorial was a PITA for a couple of the things. Timing required is too precise and i suck at that kinda shit. Floating D-Pad doesn't help either.

Injustice - played some more online stuff. Looking forward to the story. I have heard it is pretty dark but not been told any spoilers yet.

Brick Breaker Revolution - didn't realize i had to beat 100 stages in Revolution mode. Kind of screwed now. I was close to the million so i didn't bother playing cautiously and burned through like 7 lives for ~10k points. Now i have like 2 lives left and 50+ stages to go.

Singularity - started the online stuff. Terrible terrible boosting party. People still play it online though so it was partially the shitty host and partially the fact that people still play.

Going to start the Bioshock 2 online tonight. Can't say i am really excited.

Was going to star Laura Croft, but ended up picking up Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time on a PSN+ sale for $20. So, I'm playing that instead.

I defeated Magus, did a few more things, to be honest I'm not sure.  This is my first time running through the game.

Spent about an hour in Bioshock 2 multiplayer. SO GLAD TO HAVE STARTED ANOTHER 30 HOUR MULTIPLAYER GRIND!

Tossed Injustice back in. Got my 10 ranked wins DEATHSTROKE IS AMAZING!
Now i can go into the story and hopefully breeze through it and then get my ass handed to me on the super tough challenges.

Also played Castlevania HD for a bit. Got about 150 more kills. That should put me around 4500/10k if memory serves. Still need to get the Poetic Justice achieve.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is amazing.  I didn't expect it to be so funny.  My only small gripe so far is that the game is PAINFULLY self aware that it's a game.  The main character talks out loud about how much he hates tutorials during gameplay, some of the 80s references are really shoved down your throat as opposed to being suble and clever.

Still, very small gripes about a VERY fun game so far.  Anyone else playing?

007 Legends (Wii U) - I am mostly playing online TDM right now, might go and play some more story mode later.

I just did about all the damage I could in AC: Revelations. I guess about 30 hours isn't bad for a game I payed $20 brand new for. I also played some Beatles Rock Band with my friend Mark yesterday. 

Beat Sly 4, but I think I'm going to 100% it before moving on. Partly because I'm enjoying it and partly because it's taking up a large portion of my harddrive.

Spider Jack (WP7) - Still trying to figure out how to play, I will probably get more enjoyment out of it then.

Gears of War Judgement - Finished. Decent game, but more of the same.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Played through the first five minutes. Seems like it will be a good game.

Wipeout 2048. My first wipeout game. Liking it. Until we get a new F-Zero this is a nice stand in.

Fighting Vipers (XBLA) - I have never even heard of this fighter, so it should be fun to check out.

I have heard such widely varying comments on that game.

But never an explanation one way or the other. What is it that makes it good or what is it that could make people say it is terrible?

the last couple days:
Link's Awakening - finished the first dungeon and found the entrance to the next one. i'm trying to play each zelda game in the way they would have been experienced at release, so that means using the original Gameboy. ah the days when you needed to play a handheld next to a lamp.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 - did another hour or so in this, i had started about 3 and a half hours over a month ago and wasn't really hooked, but now i'm hoping to try getting it done.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption - finally going to try finishing the MP trilogy, i started this last night, just went through to the point where you first land on the planet.

This happened to me too.  I really liked XIII and was excited for XIII-2, played for a few hours, didn't hook me, stopped playing.  I will have to go back to that one and give it another try.

same i loved XIII. XIII-2 seems potentially good, but the time travel aspect is a bit out there. everyone is just kind of going along with it like it all makes perfect sense and will answer all their questions about Lightning, while i'm just sitting here like "what the **** is going on?". there's no real explanation for "why" the time travel stuff is happening, or why the story was altered. but it feels like they're trying to slowly explain that, so i'm going to give it a chance. i know i felt similar about XIII at first, but at least that one had a semi clear goal to deal with: the purge. this one feels like there isn't really much of an actual reason for all the time travelling yet, because there's no explanation about how exactly travelling through time is supposed to find Lightning.

I want to play XIII-2 but there are things about the game that make me lose interest like Lightning's sister. I just don't know how she fares as a lead character.

I'm still plugging away at Ni No Kuni. 4 months and 40 hours later I'm at roughly the three-quarter mark. Currently tracking down the second of the three magic stones. I'm enjoying this game a lot, but had no idea it'd be such a time investment.

Started playing Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition a awhile ago. Im at the REPCONN facilities and already have Boone as a companion

New Vegas was so good. Let's hope for a new Fallout announcement soon.

It's one of those games that "tries to do too much" or "doesn't know what kind of game it wants to be."

It looks like your typical 3rd person hack n' slash rpg, but then all of a sudden you're platforming, then all of a sudden the camera goes above you and you're playing Gauntlet.

These things are what is making the game awesome for me. I never understood when games get criticized for that kind of stuff.

Another thing people complain about is the abysmally unplayable fishing mini-game. I just did it last night and it was a horrorshow. However I understand you only have to do it once, so I'm psyched about moving on with the game.

They get criticized for that when they do too many things poorly. A lot of PS2 3D platformers are like that, trying too many things at once and the controls aren't precise enough for any of those things.

Fair enough. Having said that I don't think that applies to this game at all, except for the fishing.

I didn't know that it had that many facets. I thought it was JUST a hack n slash style game.

Oh, yeah, I agree, it's a great game. Mostly I think it's due to training that people respond like that. Having games with derp mechanics being tossed at us left and right all through the PS2 and original XBox eras trained players to just automatically be down or otherwise pissed when the game tosses something new at you. Hell, I'm prone to it too, had a few "are you fucking kidding me" moments at this and that in Sly 4, despite those segments not being nearly as bad as I was making them out to be.

I have heard rumors of a Fallout 4. And yes, New Vegas is a great game. This is my second playthrough, and New Vegas is my second favorite game of all time!

I'm playing through Link's Awakening myself, but I am playing the DX version on my GBC.  Still need to be under lots of light to play though.  I just beat Dungeon 8 last night and now it's time to wake up the Wind Fish.

A few years back, Nintendo put out this amazing little machine called the Game Boy Advance SP.

It can play GBC carts, and-- best of all-- it has back lighting.

Get yourself one of those, and you'll be good to go.

Preferably one of the pearl blue or pink ones, which feature two levels of back lighting brightness.

It's not how the original was played Zag, plus I don't have one.  All my GBA games went to my DS anyways. I need to pick up an SP at some point though.

Minor Spoiler: It's one of those games that encourages multiple playthroughs to get different endings, but you start more than halfway through the game and keep your level.

I was satisfied with the first ending but I may play another one to see how different it is.

I'm ready to play Sleeping Dogs though. Courtesy of PS+ I have it installed and ready to play!

I love Super Adventure Island II and this game reminds me a lot of it. It helps when trying to ignore some pf the game's flaws. I hope the sequels improve some of these problems.

Darksiders
I'm on the fence with this one. Only played an hour or so and it seems very simple compared to Devil May Cry 3 or Bayonetta. I'm not deterred yet however and I'm gonna put some more time into it soon, although I really need to finish Bayonetta. Ever feel like your cheating on a game with a similar one? :P

I don't really get this game yet. After a few minutes of tutorial I go to the first battlefield where I can shoot and kill a bunch of foot soldiers but I can seem to do any significant damage to their tanks or warship. I guess I need to play around with this one some more...

Deadly Premonition
I haven't seen that much action in this game so far but I still love it. If Twin Peaks really did inspire the look and feel of this game I might have to set aside sometime to watch it.

Other than those I downloaded Psychonaughts and Brutal Legend from the Humble Double Fine Bundle, as well as Super Metroid and I'm struggling with a desire to download Skullgirls.

For what my two cents are worth Deadly Premonition is an awesome game and Twin Peaks (season one at least) is the one of the best things that has ever aired on television.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (G4W) - My dad bought this for me thinking it was a 360 game...might as well give it a spin.

Red Faction: Armageddon (PC) If your after a fun 3rd person shooter this is well worth picking up - just completed new game+, the balance kinda of went of the window when I unlocked the napalm laser

Stupid Invaders (DC) I've murdered santa claus with drain cleaner in the  first 5mins of gameplay

Wasn't compelled to do multiple playthroughs of Nier, but I would recommend it for at least one playthrough. Totally solid.

Sleeping Dogs is pretty decent so far. Typical sandbox stuff done competently and set in Hong Kong.

Not as good as Saints Row The 3rd but that's a really high bar :)

Nice I love the Saint's Row games (not sure how i feel about 4) and the fact this game is in hong kong sounds like i'm gonna like it!

Started playing Team Crossword on Win8 today. Pretty cool for a crossword title. Has drop in online so you and (i think) up to 8 other people can work on the same puzzle and compete for score.

I haven't been playing much outside of phone games either. Strange how I go in these phases of extreme gaming to having no interest at all.

Slacking off so much with the last few trophies in Ratchet & Clank 3 HD. It's these damn "beat this time limit" skill points for the build in arcade game. Not really hard, just....I don't know, I can't seem to get myself to bother with them.

I finished Links Awakening DX.  The final boss wasn't too bad until the final form.  That killed me a few times before I figured out I could just jump over the roving arms.  Then he fell quick.

If you have the boomerang with you, you can kill it in one shot. :D

Playing some more Fallout: New Vegas. I am level 33, past 3/4 of the DLCs, and am just getting to know Caesar

did another hour and a half or so of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, it's pretty good so far. it does seem to be a lot easier than the first 2 with the other bounty hunters helping you out though. i keep running into rooms full of guys expecting to have a difficult fight to have someone come along and kill them all for me.

also went back to Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards and started trying to 100% it. i wasn't far from it when i beat the main boss before, but apparently there's a better ending if you get 100% so i'd like to see that.

Less than ten story missions to go in Sleepy Dogs.

For the last several days my wife's family has been staying with us and last night a few other family member from around town came over. At one point we had the entire basement lit up with games... IT WAS AWESOME!!!!.

We had all 3 TVs, both Arcade machines and even an Exertainment Bike running simultaneously. Had good times playing: Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mega Man X, Bubble Bobble, TMNT Arcade, Virtua Tennis, Skylander Giants and a few other NES games.

Game Room: Lunar Lander (WP7) - The power is out, so I am working on this while sitting in the darkness.

@Crabby: Sounds like a great time! There's nothing like a 4 player TMNT session.

Defiance  (PS3) - Borrowed from the local library. It's better than I expected with decent combat and some fun quests. Worth checking out if you can find it cheap.

Dark Souls (360) - Close to half way through. The game can be frustratingly hard, but once something clicks it makes the frustration worth it.

I've started playing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (3DS).  It's not a bad little strategy game.  I've gotten used to the different Ghost's abilities and I'm having fun with it.  Banshee is completely overpowered and can OHKO most enemies so far.  I love it.

Hannah Montana: The Movie (360) - My brother is over for the week with his wife and kids, so it's been kids games all day today so far, mainly with Hannah games...since they're girls.

Dsrksiders has really grown on me now that I've completed the first area. It's like an awesome combination of Zelda and Devil May Cry.

I'm on the round 9 boss of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, can't beat him as it seems to exploit some of the game's more unfair programming. :P

That was about when I started to like the game. Do yourself a favor, though, and learn to play defensively now. I tossed the game straight into hard mode during my first playthrough and it took me far to long to adapt to the idea of "learn to dodge things, stupid".

Serious Sam 3 (PC) Giving it another go but its still missing the fun of 2

Started Metroid on the NES. It's fun, but tricky having to learn to think the way the game wants you to.

I'm breaking my TV in some more with a game I've never played before today, Beyond Good and Evil.

I need to see about getting back into that one. I ran into a glitch early on that was apparently never fixed from the original release, where an enemy that would normally drop a key would die in a wall, making the key irretrievable and the game therefore incapable of proceeding.

I should really stop responding to posts, turn WoW the hell off and play something from my backlog. :/

I recently did another play through of that.  I always find the game pretty difficult until you get the Screw Attack and some E tanks.

Beat Wonderboy in Monster Land. Last dungeon was a bit grueling as you had to do it on 1 life or get sent back to the beginning of the game.

Final Fantasy III, Super Turrican 2, Batman Returns.  Gave my SNES some play time tonight.

Been playing Tiger Woods '11 - I can tell the programmers had well engineered tools to work with while creating this game   ;)


But even better, they sent off the ROM's to the people who bought the newest Atari 2600 game, CGE Adventures. So, I downloaded the Atari emulator, Stella, and have been playing that this morning. The boxed copy of the game should be showing up at my house soon!

Can't get myself to play Ni No Kuni again. Was avoiding starting in on X-Com for fear that I brush it aside completely, but it looks like that may have happened already.

And let's be honest: whatever I'm playing will be forgotten the moment that Last of Us ships in a few weeks, anyway. :)

Why'd you give up on Ni No Kuni?

Started getting repetitive (side missions, especially) and I can't help but feel that I'm playing a game specifically designed for a 7 year old whenever I turn it on. I keep hoping that the feeling passes, but it's been more than 3 weeks now and there's not a whole lot of light left at the end of the tunnel.

I think I might be almost done with Oblivion.  Septum (the younger) is clad in battle armor and urging me to deliver a message to someone.  If so, that's great, seeing that I've put less than fifteen hours in so far.  Now the only question is whether or not I want to load up Shivering Isles next to get that out of the way.

Playing the older PSN Jeopardy last night, kinda funny the game has in game "awards" that should be trophies but they're only in game... O_O

Finished my Mass Effect 3 100% insanity run tonight. After playing them all through back to back, I'm going to miss the series. I'm hoping Dragon Age III will give me a good BioWare fix this fall.

Me, I haven't really been focusing on one set game, instead opting to focus on many. However, the one I put the most time into is The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for Wii.

It's not, at least not in this case.  I made the classic mistake of watching my Steam counter instead of my in-game timer (displayed during the Save/Load screen).  It's really at 25 hours, though at least two of that was devoted to getting a cure for vampirism and another four to getting extra support from the surrounding cities for Bruma.  

007 Legends (Wii U) - More of the same.

Beat Bowser in NSMB U. I got to him and had only beaten 4 of the castles.  I may have skipped a bit. Time to go back and finish the rest.  My friend and I also got all the star coins and opened up the special levels for worlds 1, 4, and 8.  Getting all of world 8s coins was a bear.  Getting all 3 in the special star world for level 8 is a special kind of hell.  I am so close.

Just finished Oblivion.  Ending up grinding for about three hours toward the end gathering up varla stones, as well as Dwarven and Elven arrows.  So glad I did.  I ended up beating the game with most of my equipment destroyed (including my bow) and with no clue that you need a journeyman in Armory to fix magical weapons.  Despite my experience with Morrowind I really had no clue during this game (I still some leather armor at the end of the game).

Think I'll do Shivering Isles next.  By all accounts the main quest is around 10-15 hours, which I think I can do while I'm in "Elder Scrolls" mode.

Game Room: Lunar Lander (WP7) - Just working on gold medals.

Ni no Kuni - Finished at the 50 hour mark.  I enjoyed the game, but disliked the ending.  (Note I went through a majority of the side missions. I had one reward left on the stamp card.)

Pier Solar - Picked up where I left off traveling through the Desert. I'll see how far I can get before I start playing Goof Troop & The Last of Us.

Monster In My Pocket is a fantastic game. The Monster is overpowered, personally. ;)

Yes it is. It's one of those games I missed the first time around back in the day and bought it about 11 years ago. Enjoyed every minute since, still have yet to beat it though. I'm determined to this time around! ;)

50 Cent: Bulletproof (Xbox) - I am almost done with the story mode already, as I just started the last level.

Decided to give Final Fantasy XIII-2 another try as I am one of those crazy people who really enjoyed XIII.  I had played a few hours when it first came out and wasn't into it so I stopped playing.  Started again yesterday and I am having a MUCH better time with it now.  Crazy how that happens sometimes but that's why I usually don't give up on a gave after the first play if I'm not crazy about it.

007 Legends (Wii U) - I haven't really been playing the story mode, just playing online Team Conflict.

Final Fantasy III SNES.  Finally done with leveling every character to max hp and every magic spell learned.

I was testing a few SNES games yesterday and popped in my copy of FF III. Still had my save from when I bought it new of everyone maxxed at the end. Play clock is at 85 hours. I think there were a few Rage techniques I never got around to getting.

Turns out Shivering Isles it too much Elder Scrolls for now.  Just picked up the Humble Bundle 8, so I am playing Capsized, Hotline Miami, and Proteus (is walking playing?).  Also getting the second ending for Bastion, which is a snap after you beat it once.

Game Room: Lunar Lander (WP7) - I am working on gold medals still, also nabbed a driving achievement.

Started working on Domino Master again.

Monster Burner, Monsters Love Candy, 3D Brick Breaker also got some love today.

Bit.Trip presents Runner 2: Future legend of Rhythm Alien was finished today.  I finished all 100 levels with perfect or perfect + scores.  This was on the just right difficulty.  Rather hard difficulty has about 90 levels done, with 65 being perfect or +.  Definatly worth the $15 I spent!

Started Dishonored last night.

It's that old cliche of: Do I suck at stealth or do stealth games suck at stealth?

I like the game a lot, but I slaughtered like 18/20 enemies in the first mission.

If i let everyone know i finished the game after winning in 8 game types yesterday (only 1 of them Mexican Train) maybe it will swing back into the positives.

It took me about 4-5 hours last night to finish the game while i was trying to kill insomnia.

Indeed it is from Cookie & Cream, which I played with my wife on someone here's recommendation. What a game!

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 (360) - I am now starting my Chris Jericho story line.

Eh, it's just really easy in that game to go on rampages and kill everyone. That's where stealth series like Thief or MG:S or Hitman really shines, if you get caught you can't just murder everyone willy nilly (well OK, you can if you're lucky in Hitman).

Brutal Legend (360) got this a few years ago and never got into it. Now Im at 50% complete and I'm  really enjoying it so far.

Played some Alan Wake: American Nightmare with the Mrs. I think I'm almost finished but I was really tired last night.

Played a little LA Noire last night. It's such a bizarre, silly game.

It's that time of year again, where I celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Midway by playing this extremely historically accurate simulation of that epic conflict  ;D, as I single-handedly take down whole squadrons of Zeroes and Betties, a carrier, a battleship, and a few destroyers with my trusty Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter craft before gettin' shot down. With some luck, I hope one day to get past that super-bomber thingy...

Started and finished Zombies!!! Win8. I liked it on the phone. Same thing here. Crashed a few times but that doesn't seem to be unusual for win8 games *sigh* it is pathetic.

Started Scene It: Movie Night XBLA - seems like this should be easy enough to finish. Hopefully i am not wrong. This game is over a gig and taking up valuable hard drive space.

Finished one of the online achievements in Gripshift XBLA. Picked up the DLC today so tomorrow i can knock out the last online required one.

Sat down to try out the Costume Quest beta. Pretty fun, really neat to what the final product grew from. Was really enjoying it until the game got caught in a loop and crashed.

2010 FIFA World Cup: South Africa (360) - I should be finishing up with the World Cup achievements I need today.

Finished up Kraven Manor. One of the scariest fricking games I have ever played!!!!

Gripshift 10 reverse tag wins will be happening later today and i might try and start Jeremy McGrath's Offroad later.
Supposed to only take 1-2 hours to finish the game and then something like 8 hours to finish driving 1k miles to finish the game. Instead of racing over and over for no reason i will probably just turbo that too for the 18-20 hours and do something else like sleeping or chores or running errands.

I love turbo controllers.

Just finished Hotline Miami.  Going to finish Bastion again for the second ending and then Capsized.

Dishonored. I can't decide if I should finish it the crappy way I've been playing it or put it on the shelf and try it again later in life.

Why not finish it the crappy way and go back to it down the road and give it another shot?

The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening - finished level 2, found level 3 but i'm stuck on how to get the bananas to feed the monkey that helps me in. i found the banana shop by the beach but don't know where to find what he wants. needs more exploring, i'll probably try again tomorrow.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption - didn't play too long but i got as far as i think i'm able to go on Bryyo right now, went back to Norion to see what i can do with the new abilities i found.

New Super Mario Bros U - finished the first 2 levels of world 2, and caught Nabbit for the first time. would have played more but i'm too tired and not really in the mood for mario.

Yeah I'll probably do that. It is indeed very hard to go back to a half finished game. Plus I don't have anything else right now that is screaming out to me to play it so, like, whatever!

Gunpowder - got a title update. Started chapter 5 for that one. DLC still hasn't been patched in and was apparently pulled from the market place since people were still buying it and getting nothing for it. lulz.

Monsters Love Candy - still throwing online matches. This is taking ages.

Jeremy McGraths Offroad - Started and completed everything except drive 1k miles. I think i have about 8 more hours of letting it drive for itself. If i really wanted to i could sit down and do it in 3ish hours of actively playing but i would rather just go the slow route that doesn't have me wasting time doing it myself.

did some more Final Fantasy XIII-2, i'm up to the start of episode 3 part 2. i had taken a break for about 3 weeks and watched my friend start playing XIII last weekend. feels like i'm starting to enjoy it more and the story is starting to get a little less confusing.

Remember Me - Started the game and played through chapter 1. It's a decent rental but the combat may be off-putting for some.

Can you elaborate on that a little? This game looked interesting to me.

It would make a better movie than a game. The story is interesting and the ability to alter memories at key moments in the game is great, but the combat is sloppy and the levels are very linear. Think Tomb Raider/Uncharted like platforming with an an arrow telling you "hey jump over here". The combat controls don't respond well and so far I haven't found a lock on button. It's like trying to pull off Devil May Cry combos off in Fighting Force. It is worth a rent but it doesn't make a strong case for a purchase.

What's with Two Worlds II using 2 voice actors for the main character too?

I always hate it when a voice actor is changed in sequels, and it looks like that's exactly what happens with Pirates of the Flying Fortress. But this is just outright bizarre. They got the new guy to do all the story dialogue but still use the other guy for everything outside of this. Talk about ruining the immersion as you character goes back and forth between both of these voices.

Dishonored. Sincere thanks to Izret and Leon for steering me back into this game. Now I can finish it and trade it out rather than putting it back on the shelf  :grrr:

On a more positive note I'm playing a browser based multiplayer rpg/text adventure called Conclave.

Well I finished it this morning. I liked the bad ending and throughout the last two missions there were flashes of the game actually working for me so I felt a lot less stupid. I'm actually going to hold on to it I think.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 (360) - Now starting on Triple H's path to Wrestlemania.

Decided to take a break from Capsized (that three-part boss is kicking my tushy) and play Thomas Was Alone.   Extremely charming puzzle-platformer narrated by Danny Wallace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Wallace_%28humourist%29).  Another reason to slap down >$5.84 for Humble Indie Bundle 8 (http://www.humblebundle.com/).

Playing Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms, the Brittania campaign. I have primarily Welsh ancestry so decided to see what I can do since you can control them vying for continued independence against England's sword. You can also play as Scotland (and get a badass free army when William Wallace enters the history books).

Chapter 1: Llywelyn The Great

With Wales you start off with Llywelyn the Great, basically the Welsh cultural equivalent to William Wallace. He is an insane general in the early game, and his heir Prince Dafydd is not far behind. Beating the English with Llywelyn early on gives the Welsh immense pride and you get small free armies that pop up around the countryside. I built 2 extra big armies with these initial free troops. One was lead by Prince Dafydd, and the other a young 2 star general I wanted to give some experience to named Ieuan of Clynnog Fawr. Llywelyn's veteran troops continued their march South, Dafydd began conquering to the East, then turned to the North, and Ieuan marched Eastward to Oxford.

More men rose to the cause of war in the countryside, and English resistance was weak to the overwhelming rise of Welsh pride and might. These new men were used as the basis of the garrisons for the conquered English towns, being some of the best early Welsh units.

Llywelyn conquered Cornwall and raised his banner in the region before passing on due to a mysterious illness.

Chapter 2: King Dafydd's Rule Begins

Dafydd was crowned new King of Wales, and Welsh expansion soon began to halt temporarily. Dafydd, showing that he was more than a conqueror, began a nationwide focus on building up the infrastructure of the vast lands he now ruled. Everything from Cornwall in the South, to Oxford in the East, to Cumberland in the North was under Welsh dominion. Prince Edward of England soon departed for the Ninth Crusade, giving King Dafydd time to accomplish his goal of building defenses and expanding the economies of his new lands.

Wales and Scotland announce an alliance. William Wallace emerges and induces fright in the remaining English and Norwegian lords of the North. King Dafydd feels his position continue to strengthen, and turns his attention to building up a navy. Welsh fleets soon dominate the Irish sea and blockade the remaining English ports in Ireland. However, Edward returned from his Crusade and is crowned King Edward I. The new king begins planning to retake lands that are now in King Dafydd's hands, and has a big army of Knights Templar at his back.

Chapter 3: The Battle of Kingsroad

The inevitable battle happens on the road between Chester and Lancaster. King Dafydd surprises King Edward, and has extra reinforcements from the North. The Welsh and English army stare each other down while Dafydd places his reinforcements on his right flank, angling them towards Edward's forces. Edward finally moves, English longbowmen and Templar crossbows running in range of the Welsh archers. The Welsh advantage in arrows created some chaos in the English army, and most of the longbows and half the crossbows were lost in the first large skirmish.

King Dafydd then executes the second part of his skirmish plan, marching his two units of javelin skirmishers towards Edward's weakened front line. With the added javelins the archers march forward, getting in range of the rest of the English army now. Both flanks begin to cave in for Edward. Dafydd realizes he is outnumbered on horse, and the heavy armor on the rest of Edward's Templar forces shows him that his arrows will be less effective. So he begins the charge.

Most of the Welsh infantry is lightly armored, and Dafydd knew that many would die to defend their new lands. He uses his weaker melee units to do as much damage to King Edward's line as possible, keeping his own heavy infantry back for the moment. The rangers used the rest of their ammo during the melee, but most of the Welsh melee was cut down and routed. It looked like Edward could still come out on top, but he was still outnumbered, and the English cavalry superiority was now evened out.

The final Welsh charge began. The rangers pulling out their melee weapons now. Dafydd used his numbers to run his remaining infantry around the remaining English, surrounding Edward's forces, using his remaining heavy infantry as the anchor of the final charge. Edward keeps his final guards outside of the Welsh circle, and charges into the rear of a Welsh archer. Edward soon found Dafydd's own cavalry smashing into his rear flank. King Dafydd then slew King Edward in a one on one melee. The very few remaining English soldiers instantly surrendered. The battle had largely been even. 700 Welsh fell in the Battle of Kings. But they took an equal number of English with them, more importantly, powerful Templar units. The largest victory that day was felling King Edward, which left King Dafydd of Wales the undisputed power of the region.

Chapter 4: The Sack of York

After the dust settled from the Battle of Kingsroad Lord Ieuan began to mobilize once more. In a rather memorable battle against the English Lord Edward Dangerfyld, Lord Ieuan ordered his catapult to open fire on the English line. The first stone that the catapult fired smashed into Lord Edward, killing him instantly. Lord Edward was the first casualty of this skirmish for Oxford. Lord Ieuan emerged victorious and kept the fortified center under Welsh control.

After Lord Ieuan's victory King Dafydd began to mobilize for a force of his own and marched on the English stronghold of York. With Edward out of the way and his defensive lines holding it was time to strike! The Welsh king's forces broke through the border defenses and took York with little trouble, sacking the rich haven in the process.

Chapter 5: The English Marches

Even with King Edward dead the English did not give up on their goal to take back control and conquer the Welsh. Small strike teams penetrated into Welsh territory, being beaten away from Oxford continually by Lord Ieuan. A young English Lord Alan Hayway almost made it to ancestral Welsh borders, from before the marches of Llywelyn. Lord Alan was stopped by a young Welsh Lord Meilir Idwal, and a battle occurred near Shrewsbury Castle. Lord Alan fought valiantly but the Welsh lines held and the English noble fell in battle.

Every Lord the English sent to take back their cities from the Welsh fell in battle, it was a true slaughter. More men fell to King Dafydd's sword as they tried to retake York. Another English Lord, Walter of Glastonbury, began a siege of the Welsh garrison at Gloucester. The Welsh Lord in charge of the defenses was Tiernan of Bangor. Both lords fell in battle, and Gloucester remained under Welsh dominion.

Started Atelier Totori. After all these false starts and games I wasn't in love with, I needed something familiar, easy, colorful, girlish, relaxing, casual, and pleasing on the eyes.

I finished Lollipop Chainsaw with the good ending last night. I had a lot of fun with it, and enjoy Suda51's campy attitude in his storytelling. Not sure if I will go back to clean up the achievements, but it was worth the time.

Started Assassin's Creed Revelations last night. Just working on the online stuff. I had planned on leaving the game sealed on the shelf but a friend needed one more for the online. Now i am obligated to go back to it and do the single player stuff... Going to try and wrap up the online later tonight.

Tossed Midway Arcade Origins in. All i had left was reach level 5 in Joust 2 and 1CC the first stage of Smash TV. I tried for probably an hour each last time i played. This time Joust 2 took me 4-5 attempts and Smash TV took 2. Another game gets shelved for good now.

Finished all but 1 achievement in Gunpowder Win8 yesterday. The last one is glitched/unobtainable. Hopefully it gets patched. While i have enjoyed it as a cool little puzzler i am hoping no more DLC comes out.

Still have 1 stage left in Monster Burner to get the 3 orbs on. I got close the other night by using monster speed up potions and flame waves. Makes the monsters rush on screen and the flame wave travels the entirety of the stage killing them. Since those are consumables though i decided to finish maxing some of my other stats before attempting again.

Started Final Fantasy III (DS). Not too bad so far, but I want to hurry and get to the part where I can pick jobs. I loved the job system in V.

Glad I could help. I would pay $15 max. Completed the game this weekend and it was a fun rental.

It is difficult to pull of anything more than the first two combos. I recommend using all health for the first combo and all special ability for the second combo. This way you can recover health quickly and drastically cut down on the cooldown time for special abilities. (Especially since the special abilities are required for many enemies later in the game.)

Sneak King (Xbox) - The gf wanted to play this....unaware of just how bad it is..Now, I am watching and laughing lol

I'm also working my way through this version, but a lot farther than you at the moment.  :P  Also just started Actraiser for the first time, since all I've heard were really good things about it and never got a chance to play until I bought it and its sequel a few weeks ago.  Not disappointed so far, though I'm only to the second area and obviously have a lot more to go.

I have become quite enamored of the idea iOS games taking over the handheld market. That said, I am having a hard time finding the great games that aren't fifteen dollars. I suppose you could call me stingy.

Any rate, I did find Kingdom Rush, which I would argue to be the best tower defense game outside of Warcraft III mods I've ever played. Beat the Campaign, now going through doing hard modes and such. Probably pick up the new one in a day or two.

Another good iOS game is Sid Meier's AcePatrol, haven't delved terribly deep into it, but it's pretty good dogfighting fun. Tempted to check out the port of Pirates!, as it is one of my all time favorite time sinks, but it has some sketchy reviews.

i've tried a few phone games on my friend's android smartphone, i don't understand the appeal of them at all. with the controls being entirely touch, half the time your hand is blocking the screen just to be able to hit the right spots. how are you supposed to enjoy games that you spend most of the time intentionally blocking the screen?

Been playing the new Animal Crossing. Pretty neat stuff so far.

I've been wondering.  There has been so much conflicting feelings about this game from the sources I normally trust that it's thrown me into a state of confusion.  How does it compare to the other games?  Granted, I've mostly played the Gamecube title and a little bit of Wild World (which I did not like for some reason).

Depends what type of games you're playing I guess. A majority of what I've played, the virtual controls are the very bottom corners so my thumbs only obstruct about as much screen space as a hud would have anyway. Car games often use tilt controls so nothing is obscured at all and then other games I enjoy like GhostTrick & Ace Attorney are perfect for the platform.
 

most of the ones my friend seems to like are the kind where you have to tap on objects that come up, or all over the screen. things like fruit ninja, or this one where you direct water through pipes by "erasing" dirt pathways with your fingers, can't remember the name of it.

1942: Joint Strike (PSN) - I just finished my Wing King run, now to beat with the other ships.

I loved Final Fantasy III (Famicom, first non-PSX game I imported) but I really wish I hadn't played FFV first.  The job system in V is just about as good as a FF game has gotten.

Atelier Totori is so good. I loved Rorona, and this game pretty much improves on everything in that game.

Borderlands 2 Add-On Content Pack - Borrowed this from the library - Can't wait to play some more Borderlands 2.

Got Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, the sequel to the first one. Pretty much more of the same, but it's solid fun, they added a more RPG element with the heroes, which I actually don't like as much as in the original, where your hero leveled up from 1 each level.

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 - I am now working on the Rookie trophy, I have to play all 3 tournaments in single player to play on the select stages I need.

how does that work? aren't content packs tied to one account?

Playing some Garry's Mod

Finally gave Dragon Age: Origins a spin. Was a little skeptical after seeing my bother play some of the 360 version but really loving the game on Mac.

about 3 hours more in Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. really liking it, i vaguely remember hearing bad things about it years ago but besides it feeling a little bit easier than the previous 2 games, it's still very good. 40% at 6 hours 14 minutes in.

and the usual Battlefield 3 multiplayer. slowly working my way through unlocking everything for all the weapons, and trying to finish all the assignments and earn at least 1 of every medal. the only thing i don't care about are dog tags because some of those are ridiculous.

Still loving Atelier Totori.

Also played through the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F demo and watched the latest Beyond: Two Souls trailer.

Took a couple turns in Conclave but my buddy and I are stuck in one particular battle that we can't get past. The good part about the game is there's never really a rush so we can just keep trying until we beat it. Anyway that'll prolong the time until we hit the pay wall :)

007 Legends (Wii U) - Finally making story progress again.

Gonna do some LANing today. Probably some Battlefield 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and we'll see what else we want to mess with.

Finally finished the three-part boss battle in Capsized.  Back to Thomas Was Alone and the second ending for Bastion.

Beat Sleeping Dogs right before my PS+ subscription ran out. Gotta renew it now.

I'm planning to pick up The Last of Us tomorrow. My collection count is now over the 700+ mark. Kinda doubt I'll hit 1000+ ever unless I just go absolutely bonkers during the Steam Summer Sale or something.

Reinstalling Rome: Total War. Feeling a bit of a history kick, and I realized I never played it on a fast computer. Going to try out the Europa Barbarorum mod.

Stuck on Gripshift. I cleared 90 stages with minimal effort. Level 91 and up seem to require SUPER accurate driving.

So i moved back over to World of Sour for the 100th time. It is a really short/easy game but load times kill it for me.

about to start The Last of Us. i wasn't really sold on it from the trailers alone, but this morning i watched the 14 minute intro on youtube and started throwing money at my screen. about 15 minutes later i was on the bus down to the local EB Games. they were sold out of the collector's edition, but oh well.

it's amazing so far! put about 2 hours into it then got stuck, decided to take a break for dinner. i'm playing on normal but finding it really difficult, partially because i don't have a lot of experience with stealth games. so i don't think it's the game's fault, i think i'm just bad.

HAH. I edited my post at the same time you posted this. I'm also playing on normal and am having a tough time. Stuck in a tower right now. Can't figure out how to keep from being seen...

is that the tower where you first see the "clickers"? that's the one i'm stuck on, but it didn't take me nearly as long...maybe i haven't been exploring as much.

Yep. There's one specific part where you have to kill 4 or 5 that are all in one room - tried four or five times and I can't figure it out. The first kill is easy. I think I know where to get the second without being heard, but he always sees me. I gave up after a while.

I'm probably not 3 hours in on the game clock yet, but I replayed several of the conflicts along the way. I would guess that I'm 2 hours into the story, adding on an hour or two while I was playing the scenarios in different ways.

oh, you mean you did that "retry encounter" option or whatever it's called? that makes sense then. that sounds like the exact same room that i'm stuck in, i managed to kill 2 of them but the problem is i don't actually know where to go. a couple times i've hoped to run past them with them chasing, but it doesn't seem to have an actual exit...i guess they really want you to kill them all.

Yep. That's exactly it. First kill is easy. Can't kill the second without alerting the others, which never ends well.

Sounds like you guys are having similar problems with The Last of Us as I was having with Dishonored. Stealth is just so nebulous. It's always hard to tell when it's done right or you just suck at at.

Anyway I played Atelier Totori for about three hours this morning. It's starting to have that addictive "just one more task..." feeling. I love it.

Skullgirls, really liking the characters and style of the game, need to work on my mastery of the controls however.

I still need to pickup Skullgirls,I've been messing around with Street Fighter X Tekken.

About 5-6 hours into The Last of Us. I'm having a good time, very good game, but i wouldn't call it a masterpiece like the critics are saying, neither the best game of 2013. I particularly enjoyed Tomb Raider more.

I've been meaning to get back to Origins. My first playthrough I remember finding the game boring, but I'm told that had a lot to do with how I was playing.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 (360) - Continuing Triple H's Road to Wrestlemania story.

Centipede and was able to hold the record the whole time I was at the expo :D Also taught a disabled "kid" how to play which was wicked cool.

Tempest never played it in arcade before. Love this game did not come close to high scores though.

Yeah yeah...i was not THAT impressed during the first hours of ''The Last of Us'', but a few moments before finish it (97% right now), i should say...it's THAT good.

Best game of this year so far,  best PS3 exclusive ever and one of my favorites games this generation.

the first cutscene is what hooked me on it, but i agree early on it feels like it could just be any old zombie game/movie. it definitely breaks that mold as you go along though, with all the different human groups fighting each other and such. i love it, at 89% and will finish it tonight.

Altered Beast (PSN) - Am I the only one who likes over Sonic?

Yo. The Sonic games are good, but there is just something about Altered Beast that makes it particularly special. Was so happy when PSN+ coughed it up last year and the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection comes with two versions as well.

Debating over whether to play Saints Row: The Third because I'm burned out on timesink RPGs.

started my survivor playthrough of The Last of Us. i'm intentionally trying to make it harder for myself by turning off all hint systems and the "listen mode" that you use with R2. it's made it more challenging for sure, but the lack of listen mode isn't too bad because having just finished the game, i already know the enemy locations well enough.

Roll In The Hole (WP7) - With the internet down while moving, time to put some work into this!

There's no debate. If you think Sleepy Dogs was good (and I agree that it was), Saint's Row blows it out of the water. The only reason to wait is to not have sandbox burnout.

As for me I'm still working on Atelier Totori.

Fuse (360) - Finished. The final boss is hard due to the bad pathing of the AI. The final battle takes place in a circle and your allies would constantly get stuck. I honestly had more fun with Army of Two the Devil's Cartel.

Metro Last Light (360) - Working my way through, and it's one of my favorite games this year. The atmosphere and story go a long way to making this game work. If you can grab the PC version cheaply I highly recommend it over the 360 version as the graphics are greatly improved.

Hmm, don't really think there is a wrong way of playing it... well with a guide would be joyless, but outside of that.

Just beat Streets of Rage 2. Man, I love this game.

Mostly I had been building my character wrong and it was making the game needlessly cumbersome. I have a better idea of what I'm supposed to be doing now.

So, finally started Sleeping Dogs. Can't say I find the story very interesting, but I guess there is something to be said for a sandbox full of toys.

Just finished Bastion to get the second ending.  Never fails to move me.  Back to Thomas Was Alone, I think.

I "finished" Atelier Totori today.

And by "finished" I mean I got the bad ending after slowly painting myself into an inescapable corner over the past two weeks over about 22 hours of play time. Fuck.

Just completed it, great fun but if anything a bit short took about 30 hours with 92% completion and that's including a lot  arseing blowing up cops and doing stunts.

Trying to get all the stars in Kingdom Rush: Frontiers...Last level is a bitch.

Haven't played that one, but I loved the first one...

Yeah they're really well made little games. totally my favorite iOS games to date.

The new one's just more of the same, but I ain't complaining. I just finished it, hoping they add some bonus levels like they did the first.

I finished Sonic 4 Episode 1 over the weekend. Cross another Sonic game off my list.

I'm not feeling Saints Row: The Third. Looks like Sleeping Dogs with worse graphics, horrible driving mechanics, and hokier. If Sleeping Dogs is a foreign classic, then SR3 feels more like a cheesy Bollywood indie.

Damn man, sorry it isn't doing it for you. I couldn't get enough of that game!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I think this may be my favorite entry yet.

I had a free week of WoW I used this last week. My last free ten days I had leveled from 85-90 and got marginally geared. This time I got geared enough so as to get through all the current raid content via the LFR system. Actually pretty impressed with the amount of content they've thrown into this expack, but after a week of it, I'm sated with what I've seen and will gladly not re-sub.

Picked up a copy of Catherine for the 360 tonight.  Thinking about playing it tomorrow.

Almost finished with Royal Envoy.

The Alphajax community is atrocious so i might just set up a second account and play against myself so i can finish it.
Wait 24-36-indefinite hours for someone to take a turn. Stupid

Currently I'm playing Live A Live and Lufia 2 on an emulator.
I really want to get physical copies of both, but it's obviously impossible with Live A Live, so I'll just have to settle for Lufia 2 once I get the money.

Catherine is a great game, just don't play it on hard on your first playthrough. It will have you throwing controllers everywhere

Just started playing for the Wii Lost in Shadows. Pretty fun. There's a ton of levels so should take a while to beat. People keep saying its like Ico or Shadow of Colossus but i never played those .  I have also started on 3D s Mario kart 7, Luigi's Mansion, and New Super Mario Bros.
I kinda bounce around.

I also downloaded a few demos for the 3Ds. I got
Adventure Time. Never watched the show too much. It's kinda fun
Castlevania lords of shadow I think. Pretty hard
Resident Evil Revelations. Reminds me of the ones for regular Playstation which I enjoyed so I bought buy this one.

So, Sleeping Dogs. Still working on it, but much better than I thought it was going to be. Ended up having a time limit to get to the other side of the city, accidentally rammed a car into a wall at high speed, tossed my character up into the air....and right to my target. Good game is good.

Continuing the Gears of War 3 campaign, co-op.

Played Fez for about an hour before that. That game is cool but I still don't know how much I like it or if I'll keep playing it.

I know PC games get notifications pushed to phone.
But the phone version of the game was pretty terrible too. I just ran into a ton more names i recognized playing that so i knew games would get finished.

I ended up setting up a second profile and finishing the remaining achievements in 1 game. Now i just need to wait for a patch so the games played achievements will pop.

Started Ty the Tasmanian Tiger Win8. Platformer looks like it might be boring.

Decided not to grind the last hour or 2 of Royal Envoy.

Going to see if i have space on my HD for the new Spartacus Legends on my 360.
Free to download. Apparently it is 2 gigs. I expect it will end up being freemium. I hope i am wrong.

Played some Child of Eden. I really enjoy this game, but I kind of suck at it. Can't get past the stage 3 boss.

Waiting on an update for X-Com for iOS because apparently people are having problems.

Instead I got Gemini Rue, a really cool little sci-fi adventure style game, and Pirates!, which is exactly what I expected.

I've played it both ways, but this time it was the controller. It is a really beautiful game, you should give it a go.

So, think I'm in the same camp as Necrosaro, as Saints Row: The Third just isn't clicking with me so far. I kinda wish I had played it before Sleeping Dogs, I think I'd enjoy it more. The way it is, it's a complete step down in every category.

Deadpool (360) - Played for about an hour last night. It could have been a mediocre but fun game. Instead it comes off as a mediocre rushed game.

Best of PSN Vol 1 (PS3) - I really like Tokyo Jungle. (haven't tried any of the other games yet) It's a no frills package with five items on the disc and one of them is an advertisement for PS+. The games all install to a hard drive and the disc is required for play.

I didn't realize that psn comp disc was out already. I gotta get it.

I've been playing Project X Zone and Animal Crossing New leaf constantly. 3DS is becoming one of my favorite consoles.

Last night I played way too much Dead Or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball when testing a bunch of the stuff I got in techie's box of awesomeness.

Very close to finishing of Gears 3 co-op. Just played for about an hour and will probably need only one more session to roll the credits.

Played a bunch of Spartacus Legends.
The level 50 grind is really unnecessary. You can finish the rest of the game by level 15...

Started working through Sonic the Hedgehog (XBLA) the more i play it the less i like it. Got all my chaos emeralds with relative ease. Working on a no death play through and then a >40 minute play through.

Picked up Dark Souls after taking a break from it for a few months, I was in the middle of New Game + , I can't believe that I have more trouble on the regular enemies than I do for many of the bosses.  I am almost past the halfway point in the game, and soon will have one of the hardest boss in the game in front of me Smough and Ornstein.  I need to get the Abyss DLC because I heard the bosses are even harder :)

Deadpool (360) - Finished. The game was short and some of the humor borders on cringe worthy but overall it's a weekend rental.

Best of PSN Vol1 (PS3) - Played enough to know that I'll purchase it when it is around the $10-$15 range.

So knocked out Machinarium in an afternoon. Not an amazing point and click, but still pretty good.

So, either continue with Saints Row 3, try out Tomb Raider or move on to one of the other games in my backlog.

Edit: Ok, I'm done with Saints Row 3. It's not fun, it plays like a broken PS2 game and I want nothing more to do with it.

I can understand having different opinions of the game based on presentation, style, etc, but there is nothing 'broken' about the game. It's quite mechanically sound for an open world game.


I finished Gears 3 last night with MrUnoriginal. Next is Left For Dead 2.

Didn't get a chance to start SMRPG for the community playthrough but I'm guessing I can catch up easily.

I know, I know, just frustrated with the gameplay. I'll probably give it another try later on.

Played up to Fleach's first checkpoint in SMRPG.

I'll throw in that I'm also playing Machine Knight on my phone (android). I'm only an hour in, but surprised at what a complete RPG experience I'm getting so far. I haven't played too many smartphone games other than Angry Birds. I apparently have been missing out.

Played some McKids last night. Which led to us going to get burgers. Ha love the music in that game

Call of Juarez Gunslinger: This is a good game. The stylized graphics and dime store novel story go a long way to make this game enjoyable. This is so much better than the Cartel.

Telltale Games Poker Night 2 - i love it.

Brickbreaker Revolution - think i ended off around 240/300 bosses defeated.

Sonic the Hedgehog - i stopped off on Marble 3... I need to get back to my >40 minute game clear attempt. I am this early in and i was already something like 3 minutes faster than the times put up by someone in a achievement guide.

Spartacus Legends - i actually haven't played this one in a couple days either. I should be taking advantage of the double Fame holiday thing they have going on.

Space Pirates and Zombie for PC.  Kind of like the original Star Control but with more structure, weapons, and with missions.  A ton of fun, even if the title is kind of stupid.

Yesterday I continued with Machine Knight (Android) while I was at work. When I got home I fired up SMRPG just to grind for a while but the game froze after about ten minutes so I quit. Then I played one of the campaigns of Left 4 Dead 2 with MrUnoriginal.

This morning I played some Little Big Planet Karting, which was a PS+ freebie a few weeks ago. I like it a lot but it gets instantly frustrating on about the fourth race. I like it better than Mod Nation Racers which in my opinion lacked sound driving mechanics to start with.

I also started Tomb Raider (the new one) this morning. Wow. I've heard nothing but good things about this game but is exceeding my expectations. I am finding it really hard to put down, and if the Mrs and I weren't about to go to a cookout I might have just played it all day.

Couldn't agree more. I've spend the last several hours on it and it's a damn fine game. Makes me glade that my general 4th of July plans was to sit on my ass anyway. :D

One complaint I have about Borderlands 2, many of the more powerful items tend to spawn with horrific downsides(like shields that take 100HP+ off of your max heath, or guns that eat 3-4 bullets per shot)

The E-Tech Rifle they make you use for a mission sucks to, I think I probably burned 2000 rounds killing those 25 enemies because it was inaccurate as hell and had a absurd rate of fire(and ate two bullets per shot). Making me use a pray and spray weapon for a mission when I've clearly been putting my stock into accurate crits with Combat Rifles, Snipers, and Handguns is BS. Especially one that eats ammo like water and takes half a clip to even down a normal psycho.

Blue Dragon. My second fave from Mistwalker. The music a lot of it reminds me so much of FFIX

Downloaded Donkey Kong for gameboy on my 3Ds. Only 100. Points I think. Played a few levels. Not too bad. Also got Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the gba.

Cleaning up all the collections stuffs in Tomb Raider and knocked out the easy mode in Mario's Picross. Thinking that when I'm done with Tomb Raider, I think I'm going to move on either start working on Dragon Age: Origins or look into finishing off all the extra crap in Final Fantasy 13.

Got back into Soltrio Solitaire last night since i couldn't sleep.
I was able to clear the Archway game type.
I had almost cleared the Matrimony game type (believe the final one i need to beat) and my system froze. :-/

Link's Awakening - partway through Level 5, i need the hookshot and i assumed i'm supposed to get it in this dungeon, but i can't find it anywhere. left and went to do some side quest stuff, and now i'm back at the dungeon entrance where i decided to take a break. hopefully i won't need a guide for this, i've used some video walkthroughs a couple times and each time i did the solution ended up being something stupid that i missed for no reason.

Still cruising through Tomb Raider.

Started Battlefield 3 last night, not taking it too seriously.

Grinded up a level in SMRPG.

More Borderlands 2, I think I'll get the DLC pack from Wal-Mart sometime before I finish and install it for my second play-through.

It's there, just have to chase it around the dungeon. Catfish's Maw is one of my least favorite dungeons in that game for exactly that reason.

You don't have to go to a store to buy a DLC pack you know ;)


So i cleared Archway last night and finally recleared Matrimony... No achievement. Now i need to start replaying all the solitaire game types again... I'm willing to be i am missing Zodiac since that is the only other one i remember because i remember it sucked.

I know, I just prefer having a actual disk if possible. It's why I like GOTY editions and such so much.

Some games you can, Borderlands/BL2, Fallout 3/New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption, ect. Many GOTY editions have the DLC on disc as well. 

Borderlands 2 does not have a DLC disc yet.



Couldn't sleep again last night.
Played more Soltrio Solitaire cleared Zodiac (which i am pretty sure i had beat before) and then Forty Thieves game types and got my achievement finally.

Then i started grinding out the 1k wins. I hit ~650 in a few hours.  There is a game type called Tens that is super short and you win nearly 100% of the time.

I certainly want to finish the game but i would rather be sleeping more than 2-3 hours a night.

Finished Tomb Raider. So damn good. Did Uncharted better than Uncharted in every aspect except for the lame-ass supporting cast.

Got a few people together to do the online for Word Puzzle. Knocked another game off my list.

Started Spongebob SquarePants: Underpants Slam.

Now going to play a few waves of Gun Bros before bed.

FINALLY returned to my gaming! The man cave is set up in my new house and I beat The Prototype on XB360 and the Simpsons arcade game. I'm working on Lollipop Chainsaw for 360 and just trying to beat high scores on DK junior and Frogger, also attempting to beat Contra the arcade version. :P

Play for a dozen or more hours.

I tried doing a board search the other day to figure out which game types i still needed to play but i couldn't find any mention of Soltrio even though i knew i had posted about it.

I am pretty sure i managed to finish Archway before. So i probably only needed Matrimony and 40 Thieves and killed myself for scores of hours replaying Archway.

Dozens of hours of Animal Crossing: New Leaf.  This game has so much more to do than previous games in the series.

I've been playing Pirates!, Gemini Rue, and Spell Sword (free) a lot on my iPhone. Still waiting on an update to get X-Com
