Title: good job on the site
Post by: techwizard on October 06, 2013, 02:11:48 AM
whatever you guys did to fix the slowdown problem of the last couple days, it seems like it's loading a lot faster for me than it ever did before!  ;D

Agreed! Seems like the issue has been resolved.

Cool. I honestly think our hosting provider fixed it on their own. It had been getting progressively worse the past two weeks, until I finally hit a 504 error yesterday which is indicative typically of communication errors. Our server was throwing weird errors that made no sense... It means I can continue working on the database now, so no complaints from me.

It's been bouncing up and down all day today. I'm going to have NES_Rules put in a server support ticket to see if they can root out the issue.

It's responsive until Noon EST...

Not sure what's happening now, but the site was inaccessible to me all day Friday 10.10.   Today it takes a good 30-40 seconds to load a page.    it took me a couple of minutes just to add one game to my collection.     Very odd.

Unfortunately, it's been like this for over a week. We have a support ticket in that Bickman is following up on. For now, your best bet is to access the site early in the morning (before Noon) and late at night.

seems to still be giving me some problems at random, not as bad as before but it's still agonizingly slow at times. bad enough that i sometimes give up and leave it to come back and try again later. at least the past few days, but it was giving me issues occasionally before too.

Same for me. It's just a little slow.

ya it's not nearly as bad as before, but it still feels slower than it used to before the initial problem started up, and it's definitely slower at certain times of the day than others.

I've been getting consistent spikes of load on the server - not as bad as last time, but that's how it started last time. I may ask Bickman or the server team to look into it if it keeps acting up.

40 second load time on the homepage just now, but then every other page (for now) seems to be loading normally.

Anywhere from 5 seconds to 30+ seconds pretty much for months now.

I really can't be bothered to check most of the site or do anything. I check in every day and if i get super slow down i just go to a different tab.

If i had the money or knowledge of how to fix anything i would. But i have neither so i default to giving up and doing other stuff.

EDIT
My worse load time was well over 3 minutes. It was actually kind of exciting. This was me:

I thought things seemed slow yesterday, but I just attributed it to my connection as its always slow during the week.

https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/best-practices/request#ServeFromCookielessDomain

i'm not sure how feasible it would be to implement this for RFGen, but it seems like a potentially good way to speed things up, especially considering the huge amount of images on the site.
