Title: Killer Instinct has several purchase options including F2P
Post by: wildbil52 on August 21, 2013, 01:18:43 PM
Xbox One users will be able to download Killer Instinct on launch day for free.

The free version includes the entire game with just one playable character so this free version is kind of like a really big demo.

$19.99 gets you the full fighter roster

$39.99 gets you the full fighter roster, a bunch of accessory and costume packs and the 1994 arcade version of Killer Instinct.

You can also buy individual characters for $5 but that seems like the least cost effective option.

Putting aside the knee jerk reaction that most people have to micro transactions or additional purchases, I feel like this is different.  They are accommodating anyone who would be interested in trying the game from the guy who may want to play through the game once FOR FREE, to the hardcore KI fan who wants everything and the everything package is $20 less than what the average game goes for these days.

FTP  :flamethrower:

...although, 1994 KI is tempting. Would've preferred Gold.

40$s is a big price tag for a download IMO but all things considered i guess it isn't too bad. If they slapped it on a disc it would retail at 60$s and the KI 94 version would probably be a CE At 70-80$s

SWEET!
Though, I want the Pin edition they're selling only at Microsoft Stores. As silly as it is, the collector in me is going crazy.

Nothing for me yet.  Did they say why they are giving it to you?

Do you know what the deal is with the pins? Where/how they release the rest of them?

The remaining pins are going to be sold through the MS store as they are made and/or might be give away/contest related.

It is a potentially incompletable set (assuming they make all of them to begin with) based on what i have read about them thus far.

Is this getting any sort of retail release? This is the only next-gen game that really has my attention and I'd hate for it to not have any kind of physical version.

Yes, it will at least have a physical release at the Microsoft Store.

Last i heard was Microsoft store is getting a box with a download code inside and a pin. The box is supposed to have enough room in it for all the other pins that are supposed be to getting released.
