Title: Steam Summer Sale!
Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on July 11, 2013, 02:01:31 PM
Good chance to get cheap games. Nothing really nabbing my interests yet, but there's some goodies up there and more on the way.

Ah, the Steam Summer Sale.  The bane of my existence.  also, the bane of my bank account.

Yeah, great opportunity for anyone who hasn't played Hotline to nab it.

Doh!  Beat met to it, Leon!  Aw, man.  I guess I should take down ol' George Dubyah from my profile pic.

I've got my eye on three main games (Dark Souls, Far Cry 3, and Saints Row The Third) and about a million other games.  All I got is $18.01! Gotta make it last!

UPDATE:  GAHHH!  Just went and looked at the Weekly Humble Bundle sale.  All the Avernum and Geneforge games are there!  Basically some of the largest, most hardcore old-school PC style RPGs in existence!  I can almost hear my wife's eyes rolling right now...

Apparently amazon is having their own sale, matching prices with Steam and offering a 15% discount if you use the code "gooncave" if that piques anyone's interest.

Good call, thanks, man.

Doesn't look like they are price matching everything but it's nice to have options.  Not that it would matter to most people but I just wanted to point out that if you don't make the purchase directly from Steam, you won't be eligible for the Summmer Sale trading cards/badge.  Again, I know most wouldn't care but thought I'd point it out.

Yeah dude, I have $17 in my Steam wallet after buying Hotline Miami and Fez but I have a gift card for BestBuy that I think is about to become a Steam GC.

Dark Souls was 75% off yesterday on a flash sale and all summer sale deals repeat so I'd hold out for that.  Far Cry 3 was $20 i think.  Sound like you missed the humble THQ bundle that had SR3.  Good luck with your pickups man.

...just want to point out for those that asked for it in the past, we have a nice shiny collection tool for Steam.
Perhaps some people should be using it? ;)

I totally missed that we had this.  Jarvis, cancel my plans for the evening, I'm entering my Steam collection into RFGen.

Thank CoinCollector for filling out most of it.

No fake, Jake.  Last time I went through it he had only missed on game.  I'll be entering my games in soon.  And I promise I'll turn the lights off when I leave :P

I watched Dark Souls come and then go.  Just couldn't make up my mind, but it I still have the 7.49 when it comes around the horn again I'll pick it up.  Far Cry 3 will have to wait, as I want to overhaul my PC before I play it (new VC, new mobo and RAM).  So many games and so little money.  Oh, well.

FWIW, we still need to support the other digital distribution platforms. There's a lot of work I need to do though before I want to start going all out on everything.
Unfortunately for me though, I can't allow myself to get into Steam. I have to focus on only one major current-gen platform if I want to play the games I want without forming a huge backlog.

BLOPS2 - 50% off! Ooh, big savings! Now US$49.99. Hmm... pass.

The only really cheap games that I want are games I already have. :P

New Zealand. Remember, they add an extra 0 to the price in Australia.

That's insane they still do it for a digital download...I mean I know there's conversion rates but they aren't that much, and if you aren't transporting a game 3000 miles then why the premium?

Australia's minimum wage is about US$15.50. New Zealand's minimum wage is only about US$10. But Australia and New Zealand are the same thing, so whatever.

Tomb Raider is now US$17.50 instead of $70. I might get that.

And Borderlands 2 is US$17 instead of $50.

Hitman Absolution is US$6.24 instead of $25.

Of course, New Zealand has crappy data caps so I won't actually be able to download any of them.

You should come move to Kansas City with me. We can bask in the google fiber. Like totally if I was single I'd move to one of the cities google fiber is in.

Dude, you should come up to Ann Arbor.  Google Fiber and Pinball Pete's (http://www.pinballpetes.net),  plus a short train ride to Dearborn lands you right in the middle of the greatest Coney Islands and Arabic food in the country.  There are a ton of thrift stores in the area, but for the most part they suck, due no doubt to the presence of den68, Razorknuckles, and Sauza12.

Then again I see what state you are from, so that might get a laugh (not sure).

Back to the Steam Sale, so far I've gotten Saint's Row The Third (complete edition) only.  I'm waiting for Dark Souls to come back down to $7.50.  I'm also looking at Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.  Anyone ever play that?

Mmm I am sorely tempted by Arma II Combined Ops so I can play DayZ. Yet then I think I would probably get really pissed at the game, and never play it.

New Vegas for $2.50 is also quite tempting, although I thought I had a copy somewhere. Can't find it though.

It will.  Played it for a while with a friend and while it was fun, it just didn't feel as raw as the first videos I watched on Youtube.  Maybe you would have better mileage, but...

If I wasn't so determined to get Dark Souls I'd get the Fallout Vegas Ultimate Edition.  Heard plenty of good testimonies regarding that game.  Now, if you do decide to get the game, you'll find your other copy, but if you don't, you'll never find it again.  You know that, right?

Bought Scribblenauts Unlimited cause I think it plays better being able to use an actual keyboard. Fun fun fun.

Ah!  Dark Souls is back down to $7.50!  The problem is that I cannot decide between Dark Souls or Call of Cthulhu.  Arg!  Can't decide!
