Title: Where can I find Video CDs?
Post by: ReddMcKnight on June 18, 2013, 02:56:24 AM
NOTE: I am asking here because some Video Game Consoles play Video CDs, and I honestly could not think of anywhere better to ask.

Does anyone know where I can buy Video CDs in English? Yes, I said Video CDs, NOT DVDs! I have tried my hand at burning some myself, only to fail in a different way each time. So, anyone know where I can get them? As to why, before anyone asks, I just want to try them.

A lot of these were made for the CD-I. Search for CD-I and VCD on ebay. Example:

I think you can actually make your own with the correct software... it's a fairly standard, well-known format. Though ripping a DVD to make a VCD seems a bit pointless to me.

I have a few CD-i movies, and the quality is not as good as DVD.

I have made vcd's before using software that had the option, and then just used regular cd's to put the videos on.  The quality is not that good, so I suggest burning them at a slow speed in order to increase quality and the decrease the chances of the VCD not burning right.

I hate em, I've tried to burn them and never had them work, even though I have a DVD player that says it can read them.

The company Ashampoo makes a free program, Burning Studio 6, which can make vcd's.

I have used the program for other things and it works pretty good. I've never actually made a vcd.

I think the vcd was more popular in other countries, it was, and maybe still is, common in China for example.

Haha I remember burning vcd's to watch on my dreamcast. The good ol' days.
