Title: RFGeneration-like Movie Collecting Tool
Post by: GameboyGeek on June 16, 2013, 12:34:21 AM
Does anyone know if there are any websites that compile DVD, Blu-ray, Tape, releases and things of that sort like this site does? The site here is perfect for every collector, and the website is always expanding with new additions. I think if there is not one already, there should be a site exactly like this one - but for movies. Any help finding something like this? ???

Probably not what you're looking for, but LDDB (http://www.lddb.com) has a great database covering Laserdisc, CED, HD-DVD, VHD, and DVHS.... but specifically NOT VHS or DVD.

I don't envy the community that has to track and document every DVD/VHS release.....

Before RFgen, I used a piece of software called Collectorz.  They don't really have forums but they do have a database.  Since no one is really moderating it, there may be like 30 entries for a given movie but it's REALLY flexible, lets you add your own pictures, set statuses (lent to a friend, etc) I actually liked it a lot.  http://www.collectorz.com/?from=google&keyword=collectorz&gclid=CNmIi4fZjrgCFURT4god5iEAqg

I'll go dig up the old thread...

DVDAF is likely what you're looking for, though they've transitioned their domain to http://www.filmaf.com/ (Film Aficionado) due to their support of multiple formats. Looks like they only support DVDs and BDs though.

+1 - this is what I use. But, like Shadow said, it doesn't support VHS.

Used both in the past when I owned a ton of DVDs now I just use collectorz.  It's a good tool to use but cost $50.00 for the full version.

I can't stand DVDAF anymore. I am a huge fan of iTrackmine now. Sweet mobile site with barcode scanning for Android devices.

There is also a sortIt app that does movies, books, video games. I have used the video game one and trying to use the book one to sort my Nintendo Powers. I have yet to try out the movie one fully

If you're looking for a free alternative try GC Star (http://www.gcstar.org/).  It's pretty robust and can be used to track just about anything.
