I also want to say that I like the number of games in your collection, Duke. ;) Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Razor Knuckles on April 28, 2013, 09:10:30 PM I can taste it now...

Until then... ...'Late Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Fleach on April 29, 2013, 10:42:32 AM I thought it was interesting that you guys talked about holding a meet-up during TooManyGames. Earlier this month I was thinking it'd be great if RFGen had a little convention type thing where we can play some games, do a bit of swapping and selling, and just hang out. It'd probably be hard to coordinate since members come from all over North America (and the world). Food for thought, I guess.

Love Initial D, me and my buddy got really into it when we were in Japan, it was heaven! Thought so. Sileighty was popularized a lot by Initial D. I've only seen a few true Sileighty cars here in the states, and most of them were when I traveled down to Palm Beach for the inaugural Formula D event. My wife still had her track number on her car at the time, and it was hilarious to see people stop to take pictures of her stock V6 mustang because it had a sticker and a bar in it. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on April 30, 2013, 07:06:14 PM The people in Conn are always crying about how dry their area is for finds and then end up finding some of the best shit i have seen. Sleep deprivation must be getting the best of me. "podcatsle", you also spelled it that way in the title of the homebrew game "Nomolos: Storming the Catsle" so i assumed that was the proper spelling of the game Lol, maybe not? Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on April 30, 2013, 08:39:05 PM Didn't realize it was based off Nomolos. Carry on then.
Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on April 30, 2013, 08:39:17 PM That is the reason it is spelled that way, because of Nomolos. Hopefully I didn't botch anything else up.
Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Fleach on April 30, 2013, 09:08:09 PM I didn't realize that the title had Catsle in it until I got to the interview with Derek. I had been reading the title as "Storming the Podcastle" the whole time.

Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Zagnorch on May 01, 2013, 08:37:12 PM Hey now!
It's been a while since I’ve done a “fave bits” post, so here are my fave bits from the first hour: 19:00- Ooh! Link to the Past 2, you say? :o BTW why d’ya hafta be such a hater, Crabz? >:( 29:45- From here on in, “They’re kinda my jam” is Bil’s official catch phrase. :freakboy: 30:35- “So it should be on the Odyssey^2, then?” HEY NOW! ;D 38:15- “I was not a Pokemon person…” says the most sensible and well-adjusted member of the Collectorcast crew… by far. 46:49- “Up ‘Norch”? Heh… 47:10- I just got lucky finding the Jeff Rovin books at the thrifts. I couldn’t believe my good fortune… 49:07- It is indeed six degrees… …according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon And if you can’t trust Wikipedia to be accurate, what can you trust? 49:22-50:45- Hey! Stop stealing my moment, ya glory-hog! You have the whole rest of the show to discuss your stuff! >:( 50:52- “Honey hole”? That term makes me feel kinda… unclean. :paranoid: 51:55- From here on in, “Burn your bacon” is Duke’s official catch phrase. 54:11- “I’m gonna go find out where he is, and… the day before he goes, just hit all these Goodwills.” Oh, if it were only that easy, sir... :nono: 55:32- I wish I could join the RFGen “Cool Kids Club.” But every time I bring up Silent Service on the boards, these guys come and take me to an undisclosed loca— Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: techwizard on May 01, 2013, 09:26:15 PM listening to it now, just got to the part about my link's awakening score. first mention on the show! +1 internets to me ;D.
about the thing with leaving friends/family hints on the games to get you for gifts, this friend had it easy (and it wasn't much of a surprise for me). i was debating getting it on ebay and tried contacting the seller about holding it until my paypal money was available, and was talking to my friend about it while i was looking. then she's just like "why don't i just buy it for you? i have a credit card and some spare cash, could pay for it now and have it shipped to you. i owe you a birthday gift still anyway." definitely an awesome friend. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 01, 2013, 09:42:52 PM 38:15- “I was not a Pokemon person…” says the most sensible and well-adjusted member of the Collectorcast crew… by far. I'm glad someone has clued in on that, finally. Always love the running commentary 'Norch, but I don't know if I can stick with "burn your bacon." Oh, and how on earth do you have so much positive Karma? Must be on your best behavior... ;) @techwizard: Now that is a friend. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: nupoile on May 01, 2013, 09:43:41 PM Finished the show today. Another good one guys.
I up karmaed all the hosts who have posted above me, on this page, for doing a good job. It turns out Duke is the only one who posted on this page. Crabmaster, Bil, I have nothing to say to you ;) Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 01, 2013, 09:46:01 PM I think Crabby and Bil have been hiding, haven't heard enough from them lately.
For Bil, probably had a coronary after all the hot dogs he's been eating. Crabby took a little vacation, so who knows if he's even back home yet. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: nupoile on May 01, 2013, 09:55:42 PM I bet Crabby goes somewhere warm and tropical on vacation, somewhere way south, like Victoria BC.

I'm guessing you wanted to say something a little more... coarse... but you somehow managed to control yourself. Which means you possess far more personal discipline than I could ever hope to have. Quote Oh, and how on earth do you have so much positive Karma? Must be on your best behavior... ;) I'm doing it wrong, apparently. Maybe the small score I'm about to post will get people jealous enough to karma-bomb me. Nothin' like those "honey-hole" Goodwills, right. Or, in this case, a Salvation Army. Canada: America's hat. Or how the Canadians see it, U.S.A: Canada's dirty underwear. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: SirPsycho on May 02, 2013, 01:41:04 AM The reason the USA hasn't adopted the metric system is because we have crappy engineers that would rather design things on the nonsensical customary units, then the hardware companies that make parts to fit (while also making metric tools and parts).
Basically, what will need to be done is that every company and person will simultaneously need to adopt metric only instead of the hybrid crap that most of us are tired of dealing with. I can't tell how many times I've been trying to fix a problem with my metric tools when I needed my standard tools and vice versa, its more trouble than its worth but nobody has the balls to get the ball rolling on full change. I'd be happy to. I'm sure Bil and I could sign when we go to Too Many Games, and then ship it off to Crabby. It will be difficult to bring myself to deface such an amazing collectable though. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: NES_Rules on May 02, 2013, 07:12:04 PM Finally got a chance to listen to the show today.
All those extra PM's I've been getting this week about Bil finally make sense. And that "bleep" near the end scared the *bleep* out of me. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: GrayGhost81 on May 04, 2013, 05:33:15 PM Finally got around to listening. So happy to get mentioned again. My streak stays intact.
And Duke I didn't mind my video tour getting mentioned. It was pretty awesome actually. I even called my roommate, who recorded the videos, into the room to hear you guys talk about it. I didn't even mind getting made fun of for spelling f :swear: ing VALKYRIA wrong! Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 04, 2013, 06:57:12 PM LOL, that spelling thing always gives me a good chuckle. I just like trying to read them out loud.
Also, when is the next episode of your show coming out? I enjoyed the last one a lot. For those that haven't listened yet, you should. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: GrayGhost81 on May 04, 2013, 08:38:39 PM Wow thanks man, we actually took a break because we thought we weren't getting a lot of hits.
I hadn't looked at our stats in a while but we do have a few plays since we took a break. Maybe I could talk my partner into firing it up again! I appreciate you checking it out, and thanks for the encouraging words! Well everybody like Duke said I'd love it if you'd check out my podcast. I haven't been pushing it too hard here because everyone has a damn podcast nowadays and it gets annoying trying to get them all in. But if you want to hear two more guys talk about games of all eight generations, check out the link in my sig. :) Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 04, 2013, 09:01:04 PM Don't let low numbers discourage you. We don't need you giving people the wrong idea about our wonderful smut free website!
:P Doesn't seem like anyone even noticed it. If there was going to be a complaint you can be sure you would have heard about it. This is the internet after all Doesn't I love that you guys are able to chat and it doesn't sound forced or scripted. I'm definitely not advocating you guys go over the top with language but if something slips by I wouldn't worry about it too much. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 08, 2013, 11:29:06 PM It's not so much as I'm deeply worried about offending someone out there somewhere, but I want to be consistent and make it something I would be ok with my kids hearing without rushing to turn it off. There are a lot of shows that I like, but can't enjoy them around anyone else.
Thanks for the compliments. It really is just fun to sit and chat up the hobby for hours. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: RetroRage on May 09, 2013, 08:08:23 PM If you're going to bleep something, edit in the Mario coin sound or something like that.

Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Izret101 on May 09, 2013, 09:27:49 PM If memory serves that bleep would have been several Mario coins.
I loled last weekend because he wife's work blackberry had the Mario world yoshi coin sound when she got a message. At first I thought I was going crazy. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Wempster on May 19, 2013, 02:19:26 AM Great job as usual guys. Love listening to the podcast. Interesting that someone got some n-gage games. I havent heard anything about that system in a while. Although aaccording to our database there 55 n-gage games not including NFR variants. Who knew that many actually came out!
Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Izret101 on May 19, 2013, 01:03:27 PM Some of those N-Gage games are actually very hard to come across too.
Since i like shitty systems with small libraries it was one of the systems i was thinking about trying to collect for several years ago if memory serves a fair number of the games go for a decent price. It would not be as cheap or easy library to finish as you would think. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: blcklblskt on May 20, 2013, 10:44:07 PM I haven't used the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro (what a ridiculous name...) yet, but I bought it for Resident Evil: Revelations. It was only $25 new on Amazon shipped, so it ended up being about the same cost as it would have been shipped from Nintendo. Plus, I used Amazon credit on it.
As for connecting to the 3DS, it is wireless in the sense that it uses infrared to communicate. I circled the port here: Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: techwizard on May 20, 2013, 11:46:30 PM really? why bother with infared when it's attached directly to the system? that seems stupid.
Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: blcklblskt on May 21, 2013, 08:10:54 AM really? why bother with infared when it's attached directly to the system? that seems stupid. I'm assuming because it makes it easier to take it off/on. You don't have to worry about connecting anything or anything breaking off. Plus, Nintendo seems to love using infrared ports. Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: Duke.Togo on May 22, 2013, 09:07:28 PM That's really interesting, thanks for sharing. IR is probably dead cheap to put int, so it makes for a simple and cost effective solution.
Title: Re: RF Generation Collectorcast Episode 14 Post by: NeoMagicWarrior on May 26, 2013, 08:37:02 AM Haven't gotten a chance to hear the new episode yet...but, the mention of a TooManyGames meetup sounds fun! Who else is gonna be there. I'm in for sat/sun.
