Title: turbo grafx-16 boxes?
Post by: techwizard on April 28, 2013, 04:44:14 AM
i'm still very new to TG16 collecting and just noticed that there are cardboard boxes for some of the games. sometimes the game is within a jewel case inside the cardboard box, other times it's just the cardboard with the game in a plastic shell. does anyone know if every TG16 had a cardboard box in one form or another, or was it limited only to certain games?

example boxes: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/lot-of-11-brand-new-games-for-Turbografx-16-Turbo-Grafx-all-NTSC-US-LOT-8-/281098470628?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4172c644e4

I'm nearly certain they all came with the outer cardboard box. As a general rule of thumb for any system in the 90's or later, if there is no UPC on the jewel case, there most likely was a cardboard box or sleeve on it originally.

Correct for 99% of cases. ^.^

i realised that after posting and looking at my 2 TG16 jewel cases...no UPC :(. from a quick glance at ebay it looks like the cardboard is really hard to find for most games, i only saw a handful that regularly had it.

I think everyone does that when they get their first TG-16 games. I know I did, "oh yeah, CIB TG-16 games!" checks ebay "oh, I guess they're more like 'incomplete in case' than 'complete in box'."
