Title: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: wildbil52 on March 19, 2013, 10:08:49 PM Here it is, nicer quality that the first pic I posted.
It is a dual screen Nintendo Play Choice 10 and it is the nicest one I've come across. The marquee is pretty nice. I feel like the light is kind of dim on the sides. I opened it up and the original fluorescent bulb is actually pretty small so I'll be looking into picking up a slightly larger one. Here is a shot of it running Punch Out. One of my favorite things about the PC 10 version is that it saves player initials for the top 10 KO/TKO times for each opponent (Got the number one spot on Don Flamenco on my first try). These are just to show the monitor quality. They are really nice, though I am considering swapping out all the capacitors with new ones. The two that it came with that are less common are Balloon Fight and Rescue Rangers. Both of which are for sale. Also, I already had Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Contra PCBs so those are for sale now too. SOOOO pretty... is no longer broken Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: Sauza12 on March 19, 2013, 10:21:52 PM God, that is so awesome. Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: Fleach on March 20, 2013, 07:02:45 AM That is awesome! It looks like it's in great shape. You'll have loads of fun with this cab.
I guess we'll have to wait for the podcast to come out to learn how you found this Play Choice machine. Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: Johnny Nintendo on March 20, 2013, 08:59:59 AM As said before, very awesome! All you need now is a Mega Man 2 PCB, they made those didn't they?
Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: wildbil52 on March 20, 2013, 09:20:10 AM They made a Mega Man 3, much to Crabby's delight, but no 2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayChoice-10 There is an adapter that will connect an Nes cart to the pc10 so it is possible to play other games on the cab with that. Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: SirPsycho on March 20, 2013, 01:29:36 PM There's one in my area that's been advertised repeatedly, but I couldn't justify the pricetag unless I was opening a barcade and got a bunch of PC10 PCBs for cheap.
Wishful thinking for me but congratulations! That looks awesome! Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: Am4zingGam3r on March 20, 2013, 03:06:15 PM Sweet cabinet, Bil!

Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on March 27, 2013, 10:57:28 AM Just replace the cord?
Title: Re: wildbil52's Dual Screen Play Choice 10 Post by: wildbil52 on March 27, 2013, 11:06:33 AM Just replace the cord? That was my first thought but the crowd on the arcade forums encouraged me to replace the plug instead if the cord was intact. Replacement cables are available for about the same price but I also prefer the heavier duty plug. They have forums where you can find boards FS. :)

Reminds me, I need to sign up some time too. I've got a lot of repairs to do on my poor babies. Seems to be a fairly friendly site. I have been on there a few times to look for pinball machines, but have never dealt with arcade cabs. My experiences with maintenance questions (no matter how simple) on other sites has been very positive. Always expect to get your hands dirty and spend money when owning any type of machine. Steeplechase was damaged in the flood, Centipede needs some minor cosmetic work, and the Neo Geo cab needs to have the red mylar redone on the particle board exterior. |
