So after a somewhat successful group playthrough of The Last Story, Fleach and I were curious to know if you guys would like to try another community playthrough of something. Since we had a fair amount of interest in The Last Story I figured we could stick with the same platform and genre. Since Pandora's Tower is coming out soon (and for only $40) I thought I'd see if any of you guys would like to join us in playing it to completion shortly after its release.

If another game would be preferred I'm very open to suggestions though. Also we have some time to hammer out the details before it launches, but would you guys prefer to play in a slightly more rigid manor that we did with The Last Story. For example we could set goals like "Week 1 get to point X and stop, Week 2 get to point Y and stop". That way we can all discuss up to the same area with as close to equal knowledge of the plot and mechanics as possible.

Please toss any ideas you might have at me so we can figure out the best way to play for everyone involved.

Would it be possible to have it be a game that exists on multiple platforms?

I'm up for Pandora's Tower with checkpoints.  Got a copy a couple o weeks back, and haven't broken the seal yet.

i'd like to do it again, that was fun for TLS. not sure about Pandora's Tower, i'll have to see if it looks like something i'd want to play...though i was considering getting it just for the potential collectability, you never know if it'll get a bubble like xenoblade did. i do really like the idea of doing a game at launch though, then more people can become involved  because it'll be new to everyone...i know i saw a couple posts for TLS from people that had already beaten the game and so they weren't really participating with us because of it.

I'm game for Pandora's Tower. I actually saw a group playthrough of a Final Fantasy game on some other forum and it seemed to work really well using the book club/checkpoint system.

Fokakis makes a good point about a cross-platform game. Then no one feels left out and maybe we can attract more people to the site. :D I'll do some homework into fun cross-platform games.

actually another idea would be to switch systems every time we play, that would work nicely too.

I'm up for Pandora's Tower, got it for xmas but haven't got round to playing it yet. I like the check point idea too.

Sounds good to me as long as everyone is willing to wait for the US release date. If not that's okay too.

Is the US release date Aril 16th? That's the release date in Canada.

not a new release but what about Lord of the Rings: War in the North? it's on my list of games to play and would work well for this

The EB Games website says 4/16 2013. But hey, if the game's going to be out in three weeks I won't complain.

I looked into multiple platform games and the ones that  caught my eye were Batman: Arkham Asylum (360/PS3) and Indigo Prophesy/Farenheit (PS2/XBox).

I'd totally play through Batman again. Love that game. Indigo is one I've been meaning to pick up for a very long time too. Would be a good excuse for me to finally grab it.

I kind of want to play something that would be new for everyone or at least as many people as possible. We'd all be fresh and experiencing it for the first time. That would it really fun.

I have a copy of Indigo and really want to play it before Quantic Dream's next game comes out in October.

I would definitely play Batman again, I do realize the Wii rarely puts out games Xbox360 and PS3 put out. So there is that problem.

Mass Effect 3 is a good choice, because of its multiple paths, so those that have played it can always play the story a little different.
or we could make it so everyone has to play it through the same way, i.e. Paragon, or Renegade. it is also pretty cheap to pick up, around 17 bucks.

Cool idea! That would be a long playthrough so it could get interesting. Your suggestion of a game where player choice influences the experience is a good idea.

 Maybe for something shorter we could do Walking Dead? Just tossing it out there.

I would do Batman, I've never played and have been wanting to for some time. Mass Effect Sounds good as well but I'd be too tempted to finish the first two first.

All my sources says the US release is 4/16 as well.

i wouldn't be ok with mass effect 3 because i would most definitely want to play the first 2 first, especially since they have the option of save files connecting over the 3 games.

I'd have to buy the trilogy edition or whatever it's called. The Mass Effect series has been on my radar for quite some time.

I haven't stopped playing ME3 LOL. I'd be up for going through the trilogy again.

Lol, other than Lord of the Rings (I dont know much about them nowadays, but I've been very disappointed with previous LotR games) everything sounds great so far. I've played Mass Effect 1 and 2, but not 3 yet so I'd be very willing to give that a go. And Duke has been bugging me a bit to try The Walking Dead so this would give me yet another reason to pick that one up.

If no one else takes you up on Indigo Prophecy Fleach I might just have to do it with you come October too. I'm really looking forward to Beyond. Maybe we can do like an Indigo Prophecy/Heavy Rain play just before it comes out.

Dark/Demon's Souls might be a fun one to do together as a group too. We could help each other past enemies we are having trouble with.

This I would do! It always seems like the games people do these for I never have.

Never played any of the Mass Effects, so I don't know where I stand on that. Sounds like everyone wants to play the third game.

Dark/Demon Souls is also something I haven't played but I'll vote for one of those.

Honestly, I'm fine with whatever the consensus is. Are there any games with co-op story modes?

I am on NG++ for Demon Souls, and I am a little less than halfway through NG+ on Dark Souls.  So I could be tempted to playthrough, but I am not sure if I am interested in starting all the way over. I could just take my time leveling up and doing other shit, until everyone is about where I am. I would love to help people out on this one, since it can be frustrating at times. I have gotten pretty good at it, and could provide lots of help to those just beginning.  Out of either of these I would choose Dark Souls, to me I had a better experience playing that one.

I am more into Mass Effect 3, since I have not played that one at all, so it would be a fresh run through.


So my vote is Mass Effect 3 first, Dark Souls Second.

This is perfect timing for a playthrough, since I will be done with classes, next week, for a couple of weeks.

i'm fine with anything really, i'd just rather not jump into a connected story based series like mass effect at the final game...if the consensus is for that i'll probably skip this round :P. other than that everything else has sounded good so far.

another suggestion is Starcraft Heart of the Swarm, but i know not all of you are PC gamers ;)

I like the prospect of a Quantic Dream marathon in the weeks/months leading up to Beyond: Two Souls.

As far as the poll goes, is it possible to cast two votes? Like a primary choice and secondary choice? If not that's ok.

I was wondering if anyone else wants to do these community playthroughs on a regular basis? Assuming we're liberal with the time devoted to a game we can probably pull off a playthrough every three or four months.

You can play with each other in this? What version do most people here own PS3 or Xbox? I don't have a copy yet. Also I would likely pick up a used copy, does it come with a game pass?

Also, anyone for Arkham City? I finished asylum but still have city on the pile of shame.

I'll try to buy a used copy of Dark Souls for PS3. It's only $15 used. I'm most comfortable with the PS3 controller.

Voted Arkham. Wouldn't mind Dark Souls, but if it has multiplayer, we'll need to document who's on what system.

Would Love to do Pandora's Tower with you guys eventually. After playing the DC deck building game for the last 2 days I've cast my very biased vote.

I'll go with whatever game ends up being the winner. Should Dark Souls win I'll try my very best not to quite because I've heard of the game's reputation. Seeing Batman tied for first does make me happy as I'm admittedly afraid of Dark Souls' difficulty.

I think it would be fun if everyone participating in this had a Dark Souls death count in their signatures. Mine would be the highest no doubt.

I played through Arkham City at least 4 times.  I'd play it again, I just need a year to forget the game, lol.


I hated Demon's Souls, so I don't think I'll be playing Demon's Souls.  Go Batman!

The Walking Dead is really fantastic. For those of you who haven't played, you should do so even if it doesn't get picked. I won't probably be in for any of these, but I'm interested to see what you guys go with.

Partly because of the intimidating reviews of Dark Souls I'm considering going renegade and starting a group playthrough for Walking Dead. Who's interested?

I have played through Dark Souls once, and I am on the second playthrough.  Yes, it is a difficult game, but it is very rewarding because of it.

Also, if you have other folks, helping you out and playing through it along with you, it can make it easier on you.  If Dark Souls is chosen as the game, I will help anyone with getting through it. I have lots of great tips, and I know how to put the advantage back on you. I wouldn't say I am the best at this game, but I did learn a lot from playing through it. I hope to pass that on.

This is to say it will require hard work, and determination.  Believe me, there is no feeling like when you get through this game, when I finished I felt like I had just got finished having the roughest sex of my life, but it was all worth it.  ;)

if it doesn't get chosen and you want to play it let me know, and I can play it with you.

I don't think I'd go through it again (once you know the story the major plot points don't change), but I will be glad to talk about it as others go through it. It is all still pretty fresh in my mind.

For those of you that might not have a copy of the game (most likely either Batman Arkham Asylum or Dark Souls from the looks of it), how long do you need to get a copy? 2 weeks enough time? That way we could start at the beginning of April.

april should work for me, i'm not sure if i can get a copy this paycheck but if not i'll just start a little late. i'd be ok with either of those games for a playthrough.

ERHMAGAD I COULD PLAY ALONG

So Batman Arkham Asylum is definitely the winner!! For those of you that need to grab a copy do you think you'll be able to do so by April 1st? Please post or pm me if that isn't enough time, but if I dont hear from anyone prior to that assume we'll start on the first.

i'll see if i can this friday, but if not it'll be next paycheck on the 5th. i don't mind starting a little late, you don't have to wait if i'm the only one without it.

Looking at the votes it sure was a good battle between the possible games. I must admit that I was worried for a little while that Dark Souls would be the winner. If it had won I still would have played it, but I'm intimidated by its reputation has a very hard game.

This should be another fun community playthrough. Will we be chatting over Skype or some kind of chat room this time around?

Got my copy of Batman. Ready to go!

i went out game shopping on 5 hours sleep and ended up getting darksiders thinking for some reason that was the one we were playing LOL. i was thinking dark something, and forgot that batman had won out. oh well, i've heard good things about darksiders so i'll hold onto that and get batman next paycheck.

Well, Batman does strike at night so you weren't too far off in your thinking.

I'm going to wait for Crabby to set up some kind of timeline for us, or will be just play as far as we each get and discuss?

Its been a while since I've played, but if I remember correctly there should be some pretty decent spots to set as checkpoints after beating specific villains. And the nice thing is that for those of us that may want to keep playing the game, but not slam way ahead of the rest of the pack they can play the challenge mode content to scratch that itch.

Will Arkham on the Wii U count?

The Wii U doesn't have Arkham Asylum.  It has a port of Arkham City.

Arkham Asylum was the first one, not the 2nd. Wii U wasn't out then. There's a cheap version on PC if all else fails.

I can't wait!  I looked into picking up the Japanese version of the game so I could get another platinum, but I don't want to spend ~$40 on it.

No, I didn't get into the animated Batman series. I really enjoyed the movies, especially the Christian Bale ones. Actually, I haven't touched anything superhero related in a long time.
