DVR'd.

Ever since I got an HDTV my History CHannel vanished and no one I can cpmplain to as Cable is free in this building and no clue who the provider is.

eh it'll be on Youtube the next day anyway.

I'm curious enough to check it out even though I never watch either show by itself.

I don't know who Pat the NES Punk is... I do know who the pawn stars are and i do know that their gaming knowledge is sorely lacking though...

So, why is Pat going on a show where things are staged? Is he going to the expert on a Stadium Events find?  ::)

I bet you could bring in a Neptune prototype and they would offer nothing saying there is mo market for it then after more haggling they offer 10$

Yeah, I remember the guy with the Atari 2600, I can't believe they projected the sale price they did for that mess, the fact it worked the only thing you could say about it. 

Pat did a cross over with the AVGN on the Nintendo World Championship video.  He doesn't put out videos as often as most other critics, but his are pretty good.  If nothing else, he does a flea market video segment that's pretty cool.

Is Pat hot?

My fiance thinks Pat is hot....she goes nuts over his dimples.  Am i jealous?  We've been together for 6 years, i don't get jealous anymore lol.

Word on the street is he's going to be brought in as an expert.  Watch it be an obvious Cheetahmen 2 homebrew or something....actually, i wonder if it's going to be the NWC #140 someone has been trying to sell lately....it popped up in Seattle's CL a few weeks ago.  Apparently the seller was just given the game by his uncle or something and didn't know the value of it until he looked into it....he wanted $8000 for the thing....

8gs is right around what one of our members dropped on his copy via eBay... If memory serves.

I feel like Bryan from comic book men on this site. I've been hanging around here forever and have a vague appreciation for video games, but I also know almost nothing about collecting.

Some of the comments about the episode over at Nintendoage are really disappointing me.  A bunch of jealous dicks picking the dude apart.

We all know that Chumlee is an idiot, but to refuse to go higher than $15K?  Both the collectability and the chance for a seller to say their cart was on Pawn Stars would boost the value.  I still have to wonder if Pat was really serious about selling or just wanted a chance for TV time.

I'm sure it was just to let people know he has the carts.  People shouldn't go to pawn shops expecting top dollar for their stuff.

I finally watched it and it seemed pretty poorly staged. I wonder how many other rare items are brought onto the show where there is really no intention of selling it in the first place.

That's a good point, Duke. Since this episode has aired I wouldn't be surprised if the flea market video game venders are going crazy with skyrocketed prices.

It was obviously for TV time.  If he really wanted to sell them he would just have put them up on ebay or something.  Like stated above.  You can't go into a pawn shop and expect to get ANYWHERE near what your item is worth.

Probably most of them.  Especially now since the show is a huge success, they're actively searching for super rare cool things more than ever.

I should probably add that I'm also not really into collecting.

Out of all the crap people are complaining about on Nage I cant believe they aren't talking about the biggest travesty from that appearance........Pat promoted BLOWING INTO YOUR CARTS!?!?!? HERESY!!!!!

Have you been to a pawn shop though? Getting half the value of your item is fairly normal.

That really did feel like it was just a chance to show them on TV, whether it was Pat's idea or the shows.  I was kind of hoping he'd be called in as an expert rather than that.

Yeah but ive seen other episodes of pawn stars and sometimes they will offer just under what its worth.

My first thought was he was going to be called in to authenticate something (was hoping a new NWC entering the market :( )


I see. I've only seen the show one time other than Pat's appearance so I was unaware. The guy did mention that he was largely clueless as to the items though so I couldnt imagine making a more respectable offer that minute while the guy was in the store without doing a bit of research anyway. Not that that would happen since it was VERY obvious that the entire thing was staged though......

Maybe they are working on a new show for Pat like they did with American Restoration.  In season 1 of Pawn Stars Ron Dale, the brother from American Restoration, was on Pawn Stars selling them a Coke machine that they took to Rick's Restoration to be restored.  Of course they never mention the guy the got if from is the brother of the guy that restored it!!  A little while later they have their own series.  Talk about staged!!!

I mean everything on the show is staged. Every single conversation they're jumping camera angles. I don't understand how people can think any of its real. I still find it entertaining.
