I hate doing this sort of speculating, but a late release console variant exclusive to a single country put out after the release of its successor sounds like a recipe for a future collector's item to me. Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Addicted on November 27, 2012, 09:57:06 AM Sounds like a chance for Crabby to make some extra holiday cash. ;)
Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: blcklblskt on November 27, 2012, 10:07:34 AM It has been confirmed as a Canada exclusive. I think it looks pretty awesome as well. Also, it lacks Wi-Fi, not internet connectivity necessarily.
Although not having GameCube compatibility bothers me (Just like the revised Wii), I could live without Wi-Fi. I don't think I've ever played games online with the Wii, and I don't like to download games either. Had it played GameCube games, I'd seriously consider buying one to replace my current Wii. As it is, I'll wait for them to hopefully drop online so I can import one. Reminds me of kids tool kits. I am pretty sure my erector set had a box that looked like that. Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: techwizard on November 27, 2012, 05:33:26 PM Also, it lacks Wi-Fi, not internet connectivity necessarily. the fine print of the official nintendo page for it says "The Wii mini console does not connect to the Internet and does not support online features in games." Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Tynstar on November 27, 2012, 05:43:07 PM Why do we need a smaller Wii? Didn't Nintendo talk about how small the Wii was when it first launched? Did anyone think man this thing is huge! I wish there was a smaller version.

Agreed. I'd be in for one if they made it look like that. Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: NES_Rules on November 27, 2012, 07:25:46 PM I really don't see the point of a smaller Wii, the thing is already small. I bet it sells like the GBA Micro did.

Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: wawa on December 05, 2012, 08:21:22 AM I think I'll get one, maybe in 2013 or so once they are at their cheapest. It's probably going to rival the Toploader NES in rarity 20 years from now.
Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Link41 on December 05, 2012, 11:29:12 AM And now it is announced that there is no SD Card support at all! That version is a total cash grab...
Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: techwizard on December 05, 2012, 02:42:27 PM what's the internal storage on it then? i thought most games needed the extra storage of the SD card to save.

That version is a total cash grab... Its got no online so that isnt really and issue since you can't access the online store. Just need to save your games and that doesn't take much memory. I've got like 50-60 games saved on my Wii before it was full. Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Addicted on December 12, 2012, 03:35:27 PM Eurogamer has a review up:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-nintendo-wii-mini-review We never quite bought into Nintendo's announcement that the Wii Mini would be Canadian exclusive - these console revisions aren't cheap and we assume that the platform holder will roll out the new hardware in other territories in due course. But having spent some time with the Mini, it's safe to say that we'd be quite happy if Nintendo never releases it elsewhere. The composite only image struck me as an odd decision. :P Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Izret101 on December 12, 2012, 03:50:31 PM "1/8 Stacking up the new Wii Mini with the original hardware and the Wii U, we find that while smaller, 'mini' is a somewhat optimistic appraisal of the situation."
lol Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on December 13, 2012, 10:22:07 PM Why would you need a smaller something that sits on top of your tv? If it's a portable device smaller may be better, but why for something that just sets there.
Title: Re: Nintendo WII Mini Announced Dec 7th Post by: Izret101 on December 16, 2012, 12:58:20 AM It is only like 1 inch smaller anyways.
I dun geddit. |
