Title: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: OatBob on October 07, 2012, 09:15:15 PM So I put down the controller and went for a run today...
It was a long one. Super long. It was the Twin Cities Marathon. 26.2 miles! (42.2 km) I decided to wear a new shirt today.... (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A4pkyPGCMAAPt6a.jpg) Sega does... Spectators don't know my name and they usually cheer other runners by race number. But today, all I heard was "Go Sega" or the classic "Se-ga" chime. I must have heard it over a hundred times! I'm a bit bummed that I finished a bit slower than last year, 4 hours, 1 minute, but that is still a solid time. Anyways, that's my story. SEGA! Congrats on your run, and maybe Sega can be your new moniker in races.

Shit, I've been playing some of my arcade style games standing up lately, just so I can feel like I'm not sitting on my ass all the time. And for me that's some kind of lifestyle improvement. Nevermind running a friggin' marathon. Good on you, dood.

Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: InvadErGII on October 08, 2012, 09:45:37 AM My wife was late to work yesterday because her route was cut off by this marathon! Not cool, man.
Just kidding. Congrats! TC marathon has one of the most scenic routes out there, I bet. Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: Tynstar on October 08, 2012, 10:42:54 AM Awesome work man. My wife is doing her first half marathon in about a month.
Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: Zagnorch on October 09, 2012, 03:27:43 PM On one hand, you're gettin' me motivated to get my chubby self back on the local hiking trails.
On the other hand, I'm reminded of the legend of very first marathon runner, who got the message to the powers-that-be of the Athenians' victory over the Persians at Marathon after running non-stop from the battle front... ...and then promptly dropped dead. So, um, you don't have a death wish or anything, do you? ;) Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: Techie413 on October 09, 2012, 10:04:57 PM One of my Drill Sergeants would scream Sega! at us during basic. It really stuck with me, since he was great leader & a little intimidating, but won the Drill Sergeant of the Cycle Award at our graduation. To this day, all I can do is smile at seeing the logo out in the world. To see it at a sports event is just awesome. Great job.

Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: OatBob on October 22, 2012, 10:33:47 AM I did it again. #4 for me.
It may not be game related, but I did manage to pick up some "hardware". I ran to encourage a friend and a first-timer. We finished at 4:59, just barely under her target. The slower pace and the longer run (time, not distance) really whooped up on my body this time. I had to really shorten my stride, and also keep positive. Fortunately, she toughed it out at the hardest part and didn't give up. SEGA! Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on October 22, 2012, 04:29:37 PM Those medals sure look nice and shiny, and somehow appropriate with the shirt. Maybe you could put a copy of one of the Sonic Olympics games next to it? :)

I normally never pop my head into this part of the forum but saw your blog post. Title: Re: So I put down the controller and went for a run today... Post by: bombatomba on October 23, 2012, 07:04:42 PM Very groovy, bob, and I get out of breath jogging to the bathroom at work. I'm always in awe of people who can do what you can do.

I ran my first marathon in DC last october w a time of 4:07. slower than what I wanted, but it's a start. Planning on wearing some video game related shirt on my next one because that sega shirt idea is sweet. |
