Title: Virtual boy repair help
Post by: neskid on September 08, 2012, 08:46:40 AM
Hello everyone, I own 3 VB's and all 3 have the dreaded glitchy screen. I have repaired one myself using the oven method but that's only a temporary fix. There is another method but my skills with soldering are non existant. I just wanted to ask if any ones knows who can repairs these or where I could go. I've asked a few electronic repair places where I live but no one will do it.  I just want to play it again it's actually one of my favorite systems for being unique. Plus Halloween is coming up and I really want to play my copy of jack bros. if any one can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't been on Planet Virtual Boy in years, but I vaguely remember someone there who used to repair them.  From what I remember, the best method was to solder a new set of cables between the two boards.  I've been meaning to do the fix myself, but of the four or so VB's I have, only one has gotten bad enough that it is unplayable.  Check around here: www.vr32.de.  Someone may be willing to repair it for you.

Thanks blcklbskt I've been to that site before and I remember too there was someone who did repair them. I'll look at the site again and hopefully I can find that person or someone else who can do it for me. Thanks again for the help.

Glad to help.  If you do decide to have it repaired, let me know how it works out!  I may end up repairing mine somewhere down the road.

Even if he does, he's been super busy with classes and such as of late; he postponed his workshop for the time being.

Well I found someone who was willing to do it. We are talking now and ill be sending my displays to him this weekend. If he does a good job I'll be sure to let you all know. I can't wait to play my VB again without the lines.
